Help Id what Gen this rear end is

I Found a rear end that has the gear I want and I think I could get it for a good price but the guys doesn’t know what year it is out of. I have a 2002 GTS and would like to know if this would fit. How do you tell the difference between GEN 1 and GEN2? Is there any differences?

Im having trouble posting pics but here are the Casting numbers on it "The housing has numbers 44295 and g625b850 stamped into the cover and 261595 hand written on the cover as well as on the bottom of the housing. The housing itself has a stamp where the cover bolts to it with the number 0D048 and cast into the side of the housing is 44291 and 44-ICA. Also have the stub shafts for it too."

yep those are them.
any idea if that is a gen1 or gen 2. There is another pic of the top of the case but i cant post them fore some reason. Is there any reason that a gen1 cantt fit in a gen 2
