For other, comparable versions, the answer has been yes. I would imagine it is the same in this case.
CF alone wouldn't provide any real difference, but there is a feature of one designed like this (and some of others previously) that could offer an advantage.
There have been similar aftermarket airbox offerings that did not use the OE size filters btw.
We're still waiting on pricing and the OE filter size question...(PM?)

The stock filters or K&N's fit inside this box.
The fiberglass box costs $285.00 in white primer, this will look extremely cool painted to match your viper.

I would be interested but only if there is not performance degradation in the rain.
I have a friend with an M3. He drove through a puddle and had his motor fry because the intake on the current body style M3 is under the car. It was not covered under warranty. He had to file a claim with insurance.
I love bling as much as the next guy but I drive my car all the time(45,000 miles on a 2001 GTS) and that sometimes includes in the rain. I don't want to put myself in that position.
I know H**Y had a carbon fiber air box but it eliminated the rain baffle. I suspect the only way to keep the rain baffle is with the stock air box but I am all ears if there is a bling air box that works well in the rain.

Hey Dave, The vipair™ fits in the front of these, the outlet hose size is 3", I believe OEM is 2.75" so a reducer is needed ( it makes more sense to have to reduce for some people tan to not fit all the accufab users out there.
These airboxes also work with ROE blowers as well, I hhad one on my GTS when I had a ROE blower on it.
PS. Dave your front brake kit works great , Dan @ DC put one on my GTS a while back.

From the sounds of it your friend would have had the same problem no matter what airbox he had, that much water at once would not have been affected by the stock rain baffle, the baffle only directs the rain/air down, a tidal wave of water would have still had no where to go but into the engine even with the stock airbox and rain baffle system. These airboxes do not have a baffle in them but a few years ago I developed one that bolts onto the inner top of these that does the same as the stock baffle. I would have to dig up the templates and make a few.
This box is just liek the Hennessey airbox ( I own the molds from that )
I've asked GTS-R 001 one for the distance between the end of the outlet and the TB to determine the amount of room available for 3"-2.5" reducer..
