I've got the battery hooked up for the winter.. I called the insurance company today Does it matter if I leave the hood open or not?

I posted here for more responses.

I have to because of the way the charger is that it won't let me close it. I'll see tomorrow if it can kinda close. Thanks a lot.

Are you using a charger or a tender? The clips on most tenders are pretty small and would let you close the hood. Or just hard wire it and be done with it. I used the cigarette lighter for years too.

I have a "pigtail" running from the under hood battery connections that can be pulled from its hiding spot and out the the opening at the rear hood/front of door area. Hood is shut tight and my battery can be looked after.(wires need to be well insulated and have a shielded connection plug so there is no potential to short)
Sure this is common here for those that store over winter.

every tender I ever bought has a quick disconnect lead that part satys with the car always and when you are parked inside for any length of time the tender half plugs into the lead and bingo your all set. I keep my hood closed while being charged/tendered and the leads drape out the bottom of the hood where it meets the sill. There is enough of a gap there to accomodate the small gauge lead wires.
