Hood Heat Shield Missing?

I noticed recently, that there is no heat shield on the passenger side of the hood installed in my car (98 RT/10). As there is one on the driver's side (and in the middle), I am wondering, whether it got lost or there just isn't any??

Mine doesnt have one either (2001), and I was going to ask that question too ... my guess is there isnt supposed to be one. Why, I am not too sure ---

I owned my car for 3 years and just noticed. Last week on a 98 gts

There was a recent thread on this. I can't remember specifics; but, I think there are some that did have both left and right side pads; but, after some date, only left side was installed. Our thought is that it is just to reduce noise that gets to the "crew compartment" and usually only a just a driver in there (and who cares about the passenger "sensitivities" anyway. LOL )

My car has no holes drilled for the plastic holding clips/buttons where it would have been mounted on the passenger side.

Hi,

I have checked the parts catalog for the different years and only the years 92-96 seem to have a heat shield also installed on the passenger side (there's part number 4709 460 listed named Heat Shield Right). In all succeeding years this part does not show up in the parts catalog (only for the left side).

So, Gen 2 Vipers are stock without one it seems and we don't need to order a missing part now

yes true, no right side for gen 2, checked with viper tech at dear cause I though I was missing mine too...He told me if it bothers me to remove the left side cause it serves no purpose so I did, no problems and I performed temp check before doing so and they're the same +_5 degrees...

There is no heat pad on the passenger side of any Viper. GEN1's have nothing on either side, only have a square heat shield in the middle of the hood.
