Is anyone missing the underhood padding on the passenger side. This would be the piece right next to the heater assm.(of the three pieces) I don't have this on my '97, doesn't look like it was ever there. The holes are there for the clips, though. Does anyone know if it is available from DC/$$$?

Thanks, Bogota, I had thought of them, does your car have this insulation?
What I'm really interested in is if anyone else has this piece of insul. on thier car (or not), did most/all come with it? Mine has the main piece and the left side piece. Maybe they ran out when mine came down the line?

I don't have it on my '98, and Chuck Tator said they didn't come with padding on the passenger side. The drivers side may be padded for the computer and electronics there.

Thanks, VJ. Wasn't sure if I'd seen it on some other cars, my bro's car has it missing as well, built on the same day, same morning in fact, thought possibly it was a 'rare' thing and that I shouldn't replace it.

Thanks for the PNs. I does bug me, but not enough to go out and buy the insulation for that side. Just wanted to know what the reasoning behind it was.

quote: "My 98RT HAS the pad on pass.side hood! 11/98 build date."
Odd, seems like there is no rhyme or reason. Probably depends on who was working/triming out that area at the time.

The insulation pad was designed and OE installed to insulate ONLY the PCM-ECU side of the hood. The hood was designed to accept pads either side.

Some few symmetry-centric owners choose to add the hood pad in a compulsive quest for balance and underhood beauty in their world. OOOOOmmmmmmmmmm.........
