I corded my Hoosiers at Thunderhill this weekend so it's time for a new set. I'm thinking of going bigger in the front, from 305/18 to 315/18. I'm starting to get fast and was wondering if a larger front will help?

Tracks mostly run are WSIR, Buttonwillow and Thill. I have no suspension mods but do have a mild alignment 1 1/2 neg. camber in front and -1 in the rear. Other mods are listed in sig. So from the people in the know, what do ya think?

I run 315s on the front and (i) it takes some of the understeer out of the car; (ii) its faster than the stock size; (iii) you will get your front brakes alot hotter if you are running the stock set up as you can brake deeper; and (iv) on a 12.5 inch rim it rubs some at full lock, but as John Purner says: "If you are at full lock on the track, you have other problems to worry about than mere rubbing of the rim."

Make sure that any events you run in don't restrict their use.

RockyTop, thanks I'm probably gonna go with the 315s.

Chuck, I had the steering rack reinforcement done, the 2000 model year did not require the diff. reinforcement, only '99s and earlier,.

Jim, it was a great racing weekend (well Thurs. & Fri. anyway), it was with Wurth Motorsports although it was originally and S2000 event so there were many Hondas. Oh man it was a beautiful '01 M3 that was completely totaled. He was a young guy, on Sat. I heard and announcement twice "Blue BMW #333 come to the organizers". He pitted close to me on Sun. and I asked him what he did, he said he went off twice in one lap. I offered to take him out in the third session (I wanted times in the first two while it was cool) to show him the line an how to drive, he accepted, unfortunately in the 2nd session coming around turn 15 he lost it, instead of going off he tried to save it and snapped it back into the pit wall. He hit two rows of tires and knocked down the wall, thank god he was OK but he BMW was a total loss. I managed a best time of 2:08.3

How was the track day? I forget what club was running the event, although I assume that a variety of cars were there. I saw some pictures on the BMW board of an M3 that was pretty banged up.

The Nothwest VCAers had a nice time at PIR on Saturday. There were about 20 Vipers and we had lots of track time.

John ran a best of 2:07.8, 1/2 second quicker then me but he had ABS problems AGAIN and flat spotted the fronts in the third session. There were 37 S2000s there, one was real quick, he was supercharged, had a full race suspension and Hoosiers, he was a good driver and hung with us, maybe a 1/2 second slower then us! Yeah the M3 was a crying shame.
