Hey guys, I let someone drive my car yesterday , and she didnt put the ebrake down for about a mile (3 min) of city driving) and the car was smelling like burnt stuff when we were driving i thought it was just the clutch cause she was new at it but it was actually the ebrake. Anyways the ebrake still works fine but 8 hrs later in the garage i still smell the burnt smell a little under the wheel wells. Am I looking at a new ebrake pretty soon? I have never drivin with the e brake up before.

You need to check the brake pads-if they are worn down to far they are not difficult to replace.

And I hope you have learned your lesson about letting other people drive your car! Why did you not notice it? Sounds like you were in the car.

Remove your rear tires if you can't see your back pads through the wheels. Likely nothing to worry about. How do your rotors look? The rear brake pads last almost forever on these things (unless you do alot of racing).

I seriously doubt that there would be any measurable wear on your rear pads from driving a mile with the e-brake up. It does sound like you were concentrating on something else. :p :needpics:

I have a policy, if she says she's a good driver....be afraid...very afraid!
And no I would never let some chic drive my Viper unless it was Rhonda Johnson!

Don't let these guys give you too hard of a time as I had a former girlfriend do the same thing only worse. She drove for over 50 miles in my GTS with the E brake fully engaged.

I ended up having to replace the rear rotors and pads as well as run with an air freshener for a few weeks afterwards. The real problem was that the brake pads I bought on Ebay for six bucks had heavy concentrations of asbestos fibers that became airborne and were sucked into the passengers cabin.

Six months later she was dead of mesothelioma, but the car is still running great.

The only thing I can figure, is she was she stroking something other than the shift knob during the drive. Hopefully, you don't have a short shifter. :D
