One of our local members is looking to replace his clutch (he already had the replacement clutch and just needs the work done) and wants to know:
- how much does a Dodge dealer charge?
- how many hours of labor is it?

Unless there is beer involved, then it takes like six hours ;) ;)
LOL 96 reminds me of the days when my freinds and I would work on my racecars.
Anyway to answer the question I would say between 3 and 4 hours depending on the tools availible.

Tell your friend now is the time to service the car while the clutch is out. If he's quoted a 3 - 4 hour job, see if he can negotiate other services that can knock off two birds with one stone. An hour here or there for service can promote longevity and cost less time in labor now then trying to do it later.

Good luck!

My dealer quoted $1500. YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING ME! You should be able to get it done for around $500 - $700 AT MOST with around 4 hours of labor.

Flat rate time is 4 hrs this is what any garage should be charging. At 75 per hr that is $300. Plus mopar fluid replacement for the transmission. Make sure loctite is used on the flywheel bolts when they replace it

I know it only calls for 4 hours but it is a lot of work. I would not ask for a discount if they are doing it in four hours charge time.

Floor jacks? Ha ha... It's too much work doing it with a lift!

F355...The $300 is for Labor. The Clutch Disc is replaced with the Pressure Plate. There is another $500. If you need a throw out bearing...there is $220. If you have a burnt flywheel... lots more. So you could spend $1500 worst case.

I spend a lot of time with the Ferrari and Lambo cars. We normally talk $5k to $8k for clutch installs. So seeing $300 labor would be considered a mechanics tip :)

I had nothing wrong with my car when they quoted me the $1500.00. It was only for the clutch and labor. They were trying to rip me off there.

A few clarifications:

1. Only a ********* would change the T56 on the floor.

2. The trans weighs 135 lbs, therefore, it requires a trans jack.

3. The throwout bearing can be changed without replacing the slave. The cost of the throwout bearing on itself is more like $25.

4. If the flywheel has to be replaced you will be down for several days since they won't have the flywheel or the bolts. It might be a good idea to have access to a flywheel go in planning to replace it.

had one swapped in the RT with bearing, 2 hours with ramps and air tools, quite an easy job according to the mechanic
