How long will Dodge continue making Gen 1 and 2 spare parts?

I intend to keep my next Viper for a long time. Should I be worried about the availability of spare parts within a few years?

they'll keep making them as long as it makes financial sense for them to do so. With all the garage queens around, I imagine they will be making spare parts for a while.

Thanks guys. I will probably stock up on a few items when I buy the car. For example, I am sure I will wear out the clutch.

It is indeed a good question. It will be interesting to see how things play out. So far when Dodge discontinues something they have chosen not to release the names of there parts suppliers. In other words- If you do not want to sell it anymore then tell me who made it for you and I will call them instead. My guess is an aftermarket will develop but there will be a lapse. When the demand is great enough, the supply will follow. But limited production will produce a limited demand, grossly inflated pricing.
I already have had to deal with this problem many times. For your information- Chuck Tator has been very helpfull / when other people would not give me the time of day... or they laugh at you and in a nice way tell you your sh*t out of luck.

This is what makes JonB an asset to us all. His hobby used to be finding Viper outsourcing. I'd love to see his entire list of part sources. He's worked hard to create it.

I thought DC said it was going to end production of spare parts once the Srt2000 hits the road. Did I just misinterpret that?

I believe they are legally required to provide spare parts for 7 years after production. So we are right at the point where they no longer *have* to provide Gen-1 engines (or Gen-1 side sills, for that matter). I know Chrysler had a few Gen-1 engines left last year. They were never advertised as crate engines, but they were (are?) available to anyone who ventilated their block. I was told once they're gone, they're gone. Maybe JonB or Tator can comment on availability at this point??

However, they are not required to provide ACCESSORIES (car covers, wheel locks, RT/10 spoiler, etc) at all, and that is what they have said they are discontinuing.
