ahem...if you are looking for "trunk space" -> GTS. Or a Minivan.

I can fit 2 cleaning towels, one bottle of Z-6, my California duster, my soft top, 3 beers and a change of underwear (in case I spin out) in my RT-10 trunk and not a bit more!!!

I do not know about the GTS but I laughed very hard when I read in my RT manual that the trunk would not close if you put the rear tire in it and that they included a strap to strap down the door.

Well, I was thinking that if I bought a coupe I would use it more...could do more everyday type of errands such as pick up a friend at the airport( not my wife...you should see what she packs for a 2 day trip!) :curse: I thought maybe a couope has some luggage room if I remove the spare? Porsche has eliminated the spare and provide a small air pump.
Anyone got a pic of a RT-10 roadster trunk compartment? :needpics:

You need to get with some of the New York gang so you can look at both models up close and personal

You shouldn't buy a Viper based on pics on the internet

My GTS holds a lot. Easily 6-8 bags of groceries in the back. Even more of coures if you don't have a passenger.

RT/10 holds two golf bags.

I'll admit what made a huge difference was when one amp died and I replace both factory amps with one larger one. The added space on one side and no added room taken up on the other makes a big difference for getting two bags in there.

If you actually travel (ha-ha) with it, get soft side luggage and you'll be surprised what you can get into the sides outboard of the frame rails.

......must be small bags ;) On trips a couple times, I've loaded just the clubs into the car and borrowed a bag when I got where we were going.

We've traveled all over in our RT/10 for 1-2 weeks at a crack. No problem. The most 'stuff' you can pack into a RT/10 is with a seamans type duffel bag which takes up the entire space across the trunk. It will hold enough clothes for a couple weeks for two people. You can then still pack more stuff into the side compartments (which are larger than the GTS due to the GTS 'vents'). For intermediate overnight stops you just pull stuff out of this big bag and load it into a smaller bag

The new VCA notes say to leave the trunk mat in for a 'flat' surface?, but for maximum packing, the mat has to go. Do I detect a shameless plug for the NOR CAL mat in the VCA Notes? ;)

Overall, the GTS will carry more because of the extra area under the glass which doesn't exist in a RT/10.

There is additional room beneath the seats. Plus, under the center or around the perimeter of the spare tire for trips where you need every cubic inch of room. The GTS has more cargo volume, but the RT gains a bunch when you put the top and windows on. Soft luggage is the only way to travel in a Viper. Hanging clothes can lay on top of luggage, beneath the glass or trunklid.

Raincoats, Viper windbreakers, and the pre-requisite rain towels fit nicely under the seats.....and there's still room for more under there. Car cleaning stuff and extra oil/brake fluid goes around the tire. Tire plug kit and a couple cans of Fix a Flat under the tire. Round canvas tool kit on top of spare tire. The cockpit cover fits perfectly into the indentation on the passenger side of the side compartment. I carry a 6'x8' blue tarp on the other side for track days. The RT/10 will hold much more than one would think when you open the trunk for the first time.

Tons of room, that's the bottom line. Two over-night bags, lots of detail stuff including a bucket(some of which, as said above, can go under the seats and in the seat back pockets) dozen Mike's hard and still room for the front end bra when it's off, and with factory spare in place.

For a pick-up at the airport, you could go as far as taking the spare out before heading out. Carry-on on the passengers lap...

We took a 3 night vacation in the GTS a few weeks ago. We packed in a medium roller bag, small bag, car cover (in bag), several pairs of shoes and a large hang up bag full of clothes.

I was thinkging the hole way on vacation how great it would be because there was no room for her to bring back anything from shopping :) ...3 days later there was $5K worth of furniture being shipped back via southeastern frieghtliners...Oh well, it was a good thought :curse:

I can fit my golf clubs in the back of my GTS but no way in the trunk of the RT.They do fit in the passenger seat area though of both cars. LOL. Too bad it's about to snow here.
