Hung up

A couple of weeks ago I was going to take my Viper out for an afternoon drive and I could not to get my car out of first or fourth gear. These were the only two gears that I had. I pulled the car back in to the garage and freaked out

I called a speed shop, explained my problem and they told me to unplug the battery and that would reset the computer and that may solve my problem.---It did (I thought)--happened again the other day. So once agian I unplugged the battery and that fixed it again.

I know that the skip shift has something to do with the problem because all of the other gears were locked out when the ignition wss in the on position. When the ignition was off I could run through all the gears. Has anyone ever had this problem before? If so how did you fix it? My thoughts are if I disable the skip shift this could not happen again. THOUGHTS?
