Ab,
That ***** .. but you do what you have to.
Good luck and hopefully you will either have a new business or find a new job soon so you can keep the car.
best wishes

Many of us are going through tough times Adam. Some will say getting rid of the Viper is the wise thing. But for some there is too much enjoyment with the car to be able to part with it. I'm keeping mine. If the man upstairs pulls my ticket tomorrow I'm taking mine with me.

Take note though, there are many that don't even have the option of getting rid of a Viper. They are is worse shape than we are.

Adam - Try to hold onto it if you possibly can. You will find it is a serious empty spot in your soul, not to mention your garage. Like you, I have been slave to the corporate world since Day 1. Also like you, I lost my job a few weeks ago (note to self: GET OUT OF TELECOM). Nonetheless, I am barreling ahead with my SRT-10 and hope to figure out a way to get that deal done within the next week (does anybody have an XL ski-mask I can borrow?

).

Obviously your first priority should be your health and financial stability. "Toys" are the first thing to go, even if one of them happens to be a Viper. I sincerely hope you can keep it, as I know how much you have in that car both money wise and emotionally. Nonetheless, you do what you have to do.

Be sure to keep us posted on how things are going. I think both Don Boston and I are actively making a career move, so when you are running your new multi-billion dollar operation, remember some of your old buddies!

Florida,
Its always sad selling a car, but it is exciting buying another viper in 6 months to a year when you recover!
I definately would be busy giving the person who got me fired my personal undivided attention.

Nadine's right. Fight for it. I've been struggling and avoiding bill collectors for a year. If I can fend them off for just two more years I'll only have one Viper left to pay off. Life's tough aint it.

Besides, who's gonna buy it with that stupid wing on the back?

Adam, its Jay sorry to hear about the mess that's going on and all. If it should come down to you selling it look on the other side, I remember helping you through the mess with the Red RT and also remember giving my two cents on if you should get the Silver GTS. So now think about you and what you need to do for you, Your still young and you have already owned TWO Vipers (Kinda Like Chuck ... Sorta) you'll have another if that's what you want. PS Did you come to Louisville for the Holidays?

I was in Corp America for 10 years (claims managment for Nationwide Insurance).... finally I'd had enough and bought an agency from a retiring Nationwide Agent.

Now I am my own boss.... just bought my first Viper... a 1996 Black RT/10.

Hold on as long as you can.... I have a 69 Mach I that I have owned for 10 years...... heck for the last 10 years my wife's family has been giving me x-mas presents in the form of parts for the Mach... so I can't sell it?

I suppose the Viper will be in the same position in a couple of years too.

Good Luck, I see that you are in Florida.... drop us a line on your business.. if you go the self employed route... I always prefer to do business with people I am familiar with and Tampa is not too far from Jacksonville.

Sorry you have to sell but I am sure a lot of people are going through this struggle aswell..

Also, you asked what you could get out of the Viper and I am seing Vipers with about that much mileage go for low-mid 40s on ebay.

Now, if you ever do decide to sell the Viper let me know. I am definately interested and your only about 1 hr away from me which would be very good. I just bought a nissan 03 350z and I really wish I would have kept looking for a Viper and not got the Z. So let me know, I am real interested. Pm or email me [email protected] if you do decide to sell.

Thanks
Dave

Adam, no way man! You've made that gorgeous silver snake yours, what it is, with all your mods, just look at your awesome avatar, it's more than a part of you. You can consider WHAT IF I sell...but, you're already unhappy coz you've lost your job, your gona be very unhappy if you lose your Viper. Fight for it, even if you have to lay the Viper up for a while...don't part with it!! Now in the meantime, get off the computer and go sell newspapers or something...you've a Viper to pay for!!

Ab I know how you feel, I went thru the same kind of thing 10 years ago. My boss called me into his office and offered to let me keep my job if I would take a 30,000 pay cut. At the time I had no savings, a wife and 4 kids and payments that required that 30 grand. I made the choice to quit. I wasn't going to go to work every day and let them watch me starve to death. The economy was worse than it is now. I went to work for myself installing kitchen cabinets with no background. within 3 years I had double the income I ever made working for them. The money helps but the best part is I'm my own boss. If you talk to 10 people who have gone thru this not one will tell you they wished it didn't happen. In time things will work out for you. I know right now you feel that selling your toys is the smart thing to do, but if possible hold on to as many as you can as long as you can. Your not cheating your family and your not a loser. I know this is how you feel right now. Take some time to think things over and don't make any fast moves. If you end up selling no big deal it was in the cards. I promise you will be back stronger than ever in a short amount of time. They took your job, but they couldn't get what made you a winner in the first place. Nows the time to draw on that. A kick in the n-ts is not always a bad thing.

Sorry to hear about your job. It's sad that good people get cheated everyday. Don't worry think happy thoughts like this.....

FAX MACHINES - Write whatever you wish on 9 pages of 8 1/2 by
11 inch paper and tape them together (end to end). Dial the
victim's fax number and start sending the pages through.
After page two has been transmitted, tape the top of page 1
to the bottom of page 9 making a continuous loop. The
document will continue to cycle until the victim's fax
machine has run out of paper. Be sure and disable your
phone number from being printed on the fax and also disable
caller I.D. This prank is great to get even with a
business or individual who has somehow cheated you.

Best of luck with your new ventures,

Ben

Getting fired was the best thing that ever happened to me. It certainly did not seem like it at the time, but it REALLY fired me up to do something. I lived in a crappy apartment, gunshots could be heard at least once a month, and basically had nothing but a little savings. I took that savings and bought a small business. A year later, I opened another one. I recently sold the first one, and now work two days a week FOR MYSELF, making decent $$.

Man, am I glad I got fired!!!

Hopefully a year or two down the road you will feel the same way.

Good luck, I hope every thing works out for you!!

I always thought of dabbling in ebay sales, I know several people in my area that have quit their jobs flat out and hock goods on ebay, unreal.

One girl I know made decent cash in the 50K range annually, and dumped it completely for ebay sales. Her niche: used brand name clothing at the thrift shops in town, she hits them daily, scours for deals, and sells them on ebay.

She will not divulge numbers, as much as I would like to know, but to dump a 50K a year job is pretty gutsy for anyone, I'm proud of her, girl power!!!

Sorry to hear, You're a stong guy so I bet you're out kicking @ss again soon. I can't give any advice as I pretty much have no life experience except for selling on Ebay, just gotta have the right product.

Best of luck,

Birvini's right on. Sounds like he lived in the same neighborhood as I did. Ever witness a broad getting her head blown off?

Every job I've ever been fired or let go, and there have been many believe me, I always made more $$$ at the next one. Two Vipers later...

If I were you I would let the car go as soon as you know you must. Don't let it be a financial drag on whatever you are going to do in the way of setting yourself up to be your own boss. The lower your expenses are at this point, the longer you will have to get yourself in a positive cash flow situation while working for yourself. Whatever you do, don't let anything damage your credit at this point. You may need to use your good standing to get set up.
When you make it on your own you will have many Vipers to choose from.
That's just my advice. I wish you all the best. Good luck.

AB,

Only you know your situation the best. If you got laid off today, that should not mean the snake goes, you must have some reserve, use it wisely and get into business for yourself. You never know what is coming for you until you try.
