OK, I installed my Snake Oyl smooooth tubes and K&Ns tonight.

What should have been 30-40 minutes of joy turned into >60 minutes of frustration...I am still not sure I should drive my snake!!! (96 RT)

First off, the Snake Oyl tubes don't have a visible cut (angle) on one end of the tubes, but they fit OK...The instructions were pathetic, although I know this should be an easy job...

The BIG problem is the STUPID clips on the air box. I found I had to remove the air box to even come close to installing my K&Ns...I noticed I was missing at least one clip when I removed it...Now with the K&Ns, I had those STUPID clips jumping off the air box like gr****oppers...I would install the clip, then clamp it down, then a second or two later, BING, away it goes a good 4-5 feet....Whats with this...Its soooo frustrating!!!!

Are there longer clips available? I believe the issue is in the difference in density (compressability) between the rubber gasket on the stock air filters and the K&Ns...Also, the air box seems a little warped, and combine the two and those stupid clips (did I mention I hate them) just FLY off....

So now, on the driver's side I have 3 of 4 clips, and on the passenger side i have only TWO clips installed...

I am afraid with normal driving and bumps in the road, these stupid (there I go again) clips will fly off...

Help!!

Tomer
(trying to calm down...I hate it when the simplest things get you down....)
PS I don't have any more clips...Boy do I need clips!!

Tomer,

Don't drive with it that way. All of the earlier Vipers needed to have a part of the airbox modified (read grinded down) to get K&N's to fit or the clips would pop off.

May not apply to you, though, since you have a '96. Don't know, maybe someone wiser will speak up here.
