Idle speed too low?

Count the marks on the tach face carefully. Note the relative size of the marks and the recurring pattern. Your car is not idling at 400 rpm.

My '94 R/T 10 has always idled around 400 RPM's and I was glad to see Joe's response. Since it never seemed to be a problem, I was not concerned.

As Dean said, the idle is not 400 rpm. Many folks are reading the marks wrong. The first mark after zero is 500 rpm. The second is 750. Correct idle speed(Service Manual)is 704 rpm(+/- 25). You are probably around 700 rpm. Check with a scan tool to confirm, as the tach is not so accurate.
