It will in my opinion be a pain in the ass to shift or find gears.
With the Viper's torque I think a seven -speed transmission as the Vette will receive in 2013 will be a mistake.

Any opinions? Arthur

We already know that the transmission for the Gen V is a six speed with true fifth and sixth gears. VPA was fortunate enought to receive some of the test trannys and has been selling them. Use the search feature and you can find the thread or go to the VPA website and see if they have any left or both.

Ah true Bob, however word on the street is Chevy and Dodge partnered together again to share development costs on the new 7-speed tranny. As Dodge was looking into this new tranny first, this time is the other way around. Instead of Chevy starting the project, then Dodge coming in after with cash influx, it is the other way around this time. But the street has been wrong before. Believe me, if Dodge had availability of this 7-speed now, it would be in the car. It will not be a 7 speed manual but a sequential automatic with a clutch peddle.

I think it would be just fine. Make 1-5 real performance gears, 6 a cruising gear, and 7 a real hwy gear. Who knows, between direct injection and other engine tricks, and the 7 speed tranny, you might be able to see 30 mpg on the hwy while cruising at 90 mph.

Nice thing about a manual transmission is that the driver can use only the gears he wishes.

If you do not want to use the additional gears, just choose the ones you need.

Ain't that the truth. I skip over gears all the time. :omg:

Sometimes intentionally!
