where would you go?

With the mustang project taking all my time lately I realized I haven't had
any proper quality viper-time for myself in quite a while. With this year's
schedule a bust, I am considering making a viper-based roadtrip next vacation
cycle. At first I was thinking maybe a trip to Partsrack with a stop-over at
CAAP (the new viper model should be in full swing by then.) Then I started
wondering, what other places would be worth a trip to? Partsrack would be an
investment, but CAAP and Tators are both doable in a overnight. What about
Heff's or Roe's? Places I may not have even considered...

So my questions: If you were passing by, as a die-hard what stop would be a
must? What places may not be worth the effort?

Nice to see you back! It depends on what your goal is: Do you want to see more road, want to see more Vipers, or just meet people? Besides the big Crab Feast and Northeast Rendezvous both taking place out your way later this month, Tator's is close and Doug Levin Motorsports is tropical (Fort Lauderdale area). Don Scharf Automotive in Wisconsin is a Viper mecca, where Vipers go to have their parts reborn. I think many of the PartsRack parts are actually there vs. Washington state so if you are looking to see parts vs. people then that may a bit closer too. Of course Washington is beautiful and Jon is out there so that would be a fun road trip. Just don't count on getting in CAAP before 2013: They rarely let folks in the plant during the first several months of a new product launch.

Great to see you post again!

Bonkers, good to see you back on the site.

I hear that Iowa in the summer is an awesome destination to check out a Kandy Red Street Serpent Viper. 95 degrees and 97% humidity. We do have a good number of "closed, private tracks" for spirited Viper runs.

Depnds on cost, time, personal interest, etc.

I would say for sure a VOI, a zone rendevous, national Mopar Shows, CAAP, etc if car oriented is key.

If you want great pictures and cruise time, try the Keys, Coastal Highway in CA, TX gulf areas, etc

Maybe more of drive to somewhere and just relax? Maybe a resort in HI with the drive to CA, leave the car with a VCA member for a week, fly to HI, and drive back. Maybe a trip to a cabin in ME with breathtaking woods and nature surrounding you.

More driving oriented? Maybe a motorsports park where you can auto x, 1/4 mile, track, and driving school all in one place....

Maybe a ultimate viper cruise starting at Tator, to CAAP, to Roanoke, to Woodhouse, Leguna Seca, etc.....

Options are endless!

This is sort of what I am planning. I already have a solid 4 day plan (7 day
with Partsrack) worked out, but there is a lot of space inbetween. Would
hate to travel all that way and miss something interesting by 50miles...

I say cruise to Michigan to CAAP around the same time they have the Woodward Dream Cruise on 8/20/11 to kill two birds with one stone!

You know that was my plan last month, but I heard they were getting
ridiculious with the speed traps up there. Definitely not out of the
question though.

Speed traps are long gone.43 Vipers there Friday, 0 police. Got crazy for a couple of years but calmed down this past year. You might see one, maybe two on weekends but seldom during the week. Plus they aren't going overboard on tickets. Got a 82 in 45 and 78 in 40 last year but both warnings. Just stay in your lane and don't go crazy. Weekdays and Sat/Sun evenings are best times.
