Norman,

For the engine, I just wipe it down with a wet cloth. I haven't gotten to the point yet where the belts and oil leave a mess at the front of the block so it's easy to clean right now. For the engine bay, I also wipe down with a wet cloth, but I follow up the fibre glass parts over the wheel wells with Zaino's tire prep. I also use it on the airbox. Someone suggested using it on the hoses once. I tried it and it worked pretty nicely. The underside part of the hood, I just wipe up with a wet cloth.

If it's just dust and lose stuff, I use a california duster and gentley go over the engine when it's cold. Works pretty good.

Egine, Try armor all. My favorite is WD40 on a cloth and wipe the red parts with it. Makes it look beautiful. Black parts and hoses, etc, Vinyl and or rubber protectant works best. Again, WD-40 works nicely.

Baby wipes work great for cleaning under the hood. They sometimes leave streaks, however they clean great and just throw them away when you're done. Follow up with Zaino and it will look better than new. Z-6 and Z-16 work great.

I have never cleaned and detailed the motor on my 98 Viper GTS. I would like to pick all your brains on the best and most effective method. I normally drive my cars to the local car wash, spray it down and then use windex and other household cleaners under the hood. What do you guys suggest?

Thanks for your help in advance.

I particularly drink about a full glass of Tropicana Grovestand orange juice without pulp and spit shine my valve covers. The acid in my flem really brings out the shine in those magnesium valve covers.
