Was out driving my newly supercharged snake yesterday, and noticed my Valentine One would go off for Laser detection every time I got on it. Normal driving, no alarm. Moderate acceleration, no alarm. Hard acceleration, alarm every time. The wife thought this was a great new feature, and was going to call Sean and thank him.
Since this would happen even sitting in my garage, it could not be Laser like energy hitting the detector. The only other thing I could think of was that as part of the install, you remove a metal plate on the firewall. Attached to that plate was a grounding strap. Unless I missed it in the install instructions, you are never told to re-ground that strap.
Figuring it could be noise that was causing the V1 to misbehave, I tried a jumper from the ground strap to the chassis ground under the PCM. Sure enough, no more alarms!
