Hey guys, I'm kind of back in the market and found a 1997 RT/10 which says it's a "Gold Package". It has the gold wheels, emblems, seats, steering wheels, and shifter. Is there a way to check to see if the VIN is a true "Gold Package"? The vin is 1B3ER65E3VV300162. I did a autocheck on it and it says it had two owners. But from the records it shows it was first registered in 2000 with 15K miles on it. The car right now has around 30K miles on it. What do you think if it's a true "Gold Package" would be worth?

Thanks in advance!

I don't think the "gold package" was ever put on an RT/10. I know there were 3 GTSs that had them. Best to ask Bill P. or Chuck T.. JonB would also be a good source, but you'll have to buy a set of tires and rims from him to get the info.................................

Ya beat me to it! "Gold sparkle wheels, gold snake emblems on the hood sides, and tan interior". At least your regional members are "trying" to help. :D

Yea I think the GTS had only gold wheels. They did not have an option to have the Cognac interior peaces.

Ok thanks Chip. The car is located at a dealer in Memphis, so if I get serious about this one it would be nice if I could find someone close to check it out. I think I'm about 8 hours from it.

Anyways, what do you guys think this RT/10 is worth with 30K miles on it in this market?

Personally, I think it being a 1 of 3 car is definitely going to keep the price up. (probably $5000-$10000 more than any other 97 RT/10). I wonder if the other 2 are still around? Does the dealer know what they have? Is it a "gold package" car for sure? Will your Great Dane fit now?:D What are they asking?

I remember seeing a "gold package" RT/10 back in 97 or 98 at Roanoke Motors. At the time though they didn't tell me how rare that one would be, but that it was just one of the available options.

I wonder if it is the same one you are looking at.

ha I will figure out a way to fit my great dane in there. Trust me.

Well, the autocheck is kind of weird. Why would they not show the car being titled new? The first info they have on it is in 2000 with 15K miles. Here are some pictures below. Looks like the hood need to be adjusted a little. Who knows there might be a store behind this one but I plan on finding that out tomorrow when I call them.

Is it just me or does it look like there is no plastic wheel well cover in this picture?

Agreed, but just to clarify it doesn't say there were three with gold packages, it says, "Only three RT/10s were built with the gold package and tan interior, making it another rare color combination." Unfortunately, I don't think these days it makes it a more valuable car, just, perhaps, some cool bragging rights.:)
As far as the '97 coupes, had one with the sparkle gold wheels and it also had gold emblems, "Viper Buyers Guide" confirms there were 7. It was a no cost option, and an unpopular one at that, thus not many out there and I know it added nothing to the value of mine when I sold it.

That "Viper RT/10" logo should be on the same line instead of RT/10 under the word "Viper". That coupled with the fact that the hood is out of adjustment, leads me to think that hood may have been hit before.

Rare and desirable are two different things. 65-67 Mustangs and early 70's Barracudas with bench seats are extremely rare, but not all that desirable. They are rare because nobody wanted to buy them when new. That is a really bad interior color with red. I don't ever recall seeing a red with cognac interior combination before.

Personally, I would not pay as much as for a non-gold package 97 RT/10.

Dealer may have kept it on manufacturer's title for the fist three years and 15,000 miles. May not have been first titled until then.

sdaddy, I'm not a big fan of the gold package but if I can get one at a great price then I wold jump on it. I think they are asking $28,500 for it.

Mike, how many owners did yours have?

To me, the interior looks like it's a "little wore out". Any pics under the hood? Too many things that don't look right. If your not a big fan of the gold package, keep shopping around.

I believe I am the 4th. My drivers seat bolster has some wear to it, but then it's also a custom Venzano setup. I dropped my price to $32K. If the car hasn't been in an accident, $28K is a great deal, deep into G1 price territory.

Check out this video

Also the front bumper in the pic does not have the protective film tape on the bottom corners meaning the front fascia was probably repainted and new film tape was never ordered and put back on, a classic sign of a repaint for Gen 2 Vipers

That seems like a steal if it is clean and you like the look.

I would think the gold package DECREASES the value since you will have to immediately buy new wheels and emblems...
