I installed a 172 degree thermostat today in my '01 RT/10. While I had the intake manifold off I noticed oil in each of the intake ports on the manifold. Probably about a drop or two of oil. Interesting thing is this oil looked like it came right from a fresh quart even though I changed my oil 2000 miles ago. Is this normal?

Here's a pic of the one of the ports with oil.

Yes, it's normal. Install a catch can if you want to stop it. Oil is fed back into the intake via the crankcase.

I did an SC install last month. I too was surprised to find exactly what you did. I installed a catch can, and problem solved. BTW, do a search. There are many alternatives for the catch can, and not all will cost you $200.

I'm not running an SC, yet, still n.a. I thought this issue was mostly evident in S.C. applications? I'll just tell the wife I need the S.C. now to solve this problem. :D

Changed my thermostat and saw the exact thing...called Tator and he informed me it was normal. So I cleaned it out and got the can!

I was just about to call Chuck. Thanks everyone for the tips and answering my question. Time to dig up Damn Yankee's Puke Can Installation guide and start yet a new project.

Thanks,
