Sorry, older facia.... newer in on '96 and later GTS, and '97 and later RT/10. It has a very pronounced chin spoiler. This can be seen at: here and even better here

That is the original smoothie facia.......

The earlier detail photo you posted was not obvious to me.

The style change was INDEED to improve downforce and improve airflow thru radiator...and to make the RT and GTS noses the same.
