I have finally driven the new SRT-10. OK, heres the scoop on it with honest remarks. The car is very quick. Better paint job seems to be noticed rightaway on the finish. The seats incredible hug fitting arond you. Brakes???WOW!!!!!!!!!Acceleration?? Kinda lacks in take off dept.. Gawk facter?? I got looks but could be easily mistaken for a camaro or vett when looked at quickly. The car looks so hot in black.Overall all rating from 1 -10 I give it a solid 8.5 overall. I have to say one thing about the new SRT. The cars interior blows away the ge1 and 2. When it coms to that brutal look of the SRT, I give it a 4 rating. They made the car to diver friendly. Would I trade mine in for new one??? No..Would I buy it if I didnt have a Viper, yes!!!!!!!

ps- Pics coming soon with GTS and SRT...Both Black

Sorry guys for the typos..I was excited and just cameback from ride..Ok Bill, here goes. Driver friendly for many reasons. A person spends so much to get a perfect sport car. Well here comes the new Viper. Easy to get into. Seats seem perfect fit on your back with alot of comfort. Stick shift is placed perfectly for ease of changing gears compared to GEN1 and 2 models. I spoke to Chuck today about why I keep missing third. He told me practice and drive it and it will come to you. Shifting the SRT seemed smoother even though it's the same tranny. The location of the stick makes it better to shift in MHO. This is the best part, the instrument panel..Bill, everything is easy viewed. Your eyes don't roam around all over the dash to look at gauges. It was all put in place perfectly. I feel that anyone buying this car has to put a fraction in the motor to make it run even quicker. It coms with the Xenon lights, comes with those huge 19 inch tires in rear. User friendly also with not having to change tire if you get a flat. If I'm correct Chuck told me car has no spare and you can run tire on flat.Tell me how user friendly that sounds.... I love the car. I guess it will grow on me quickly. Guys, black makes this car look wicked. Pictures of his car and my car will be posted soon..

I think the SRT is much more difficult to get in and out of. I don't like the ball shift knob, but the shifter action is better. Pedals are closer together and take some getting used to. Footwell heat is non-existent on the SRT, but I noticed some heat from the side sills. I do not like the vertical arrangement of the oil/temp/batt gauges. You should not have to look down to scan the vitals. The stereo kicks, but the radio face suffers from glare with the top down and is hard to read.

The car is much choppier ride-wise than a Gen2, but handling is much crisper and nicely weighted. The car is more cocoon-like than a Gen1/2, with higher doors, trunk lid and fenders. Visibility is substantially inferior to the original cars, but you have the same problem as in an RT/10 with seeing stop lights behind the windshield header.

Oh, and did I mention that the brakes __SERIOUSLY__ kick butt?

Bill,

The driveability is different than the GenI. I think GTSDean is correct about the choppy ride but you are much more stable. Even at high speeds you feel like you are doing 55. I feel the visibility out the front is better but worst out the rear. It's hard for me to explain, but the best I can come up with is stable. This car can easley be a daily driver.

I agree that the car is driver friendly not many things I don`t like about it. The worst and nobody else has complained about is the heat in the drivers footwell when the top is down and cruising at slow speeds, passenger footwell stays cool. Minor problems the tether on the gas cap and the button behind the key. Let me know if anyone else is having heat problem with the top down. Thanks Mike

The sun visors can be angled to deflect wind down into the footwell areas. You need at least a modest amount of speed to get much effect, but it definitely works. I think the Start Engine button is gimmicky, but the kids like to push it for me.

You can also adjust the A/C to blow in the footwell area but then the passenger side is to cold. just wondering if all the cars are like this or if mine is missing a seal around something. DC feel free to chime in on this SRT drivers would like to know. I am sure you encountered this during testing. Thanks

I like the push Engine Start Button, too. A little gimmicky, yes. But definitely interesting and retro race car. Liked it so much I added one in my 1999 RT/10. I put it to the left of the power window controls to balance out the cigarette lighter placement. A red button with the words ENGINE START in white just like the SRT.

I like it! Was it easy to install? Can you still start it by turning the ignition key or has that been disabled? Were the instructions clear and easy to follow? Your install is clean and really nice looking!!!

My mechanic installed it and he said it was very easy.
He wasn't wild about the quality of the relay switch so he opted to swap it out with a better quality switch.
The key ignition is NOT disabled. To start the car the key is turned to the first position, the clutch is depressed and the button is pushed. It's very cool.
The car will not start if the clutch is not engaged and it won't start unless the key is in position one.
My mechanic/tuner is meticulous (Unique Performance) and any job he's ever done for me is clean and neat.
