Well, I just picked up my first Viper (second Mopar ride)...very excited to get to know it well and do some track events with you guys this summer! I got some prep to do, like wing, harness, roll bar, fuel cell, custom paint, etc. Look for me there! Meantime, I am sure I will have a lot of questions as I prep the car. Fortunately, my neighbor is a Viper owner and avid track guy himself, so I have a resource close by! (Former Chrysler exec too). Well, here is the new addition :2tu: 2000 GTS, Red coupe, black and saddle brown interior, 6K mi., former S.C. car. Once I figure out how to post a pic, I will do so!

Jim, Look at the top. Go to Media, then Image Gallery and then My Gallery. You can upload it there. Once you get it there we will show you how to display it here.

Nice cars. The red exteriors and tan interiors go well together. I also love that Testarossa. :2tu: :headbang:

Congrats! Nice addition to your garage.

How do like the way it pulls compared to your F Car?

Always loved the Testarossa...

The Viper pulls like mad, but hits red line very quickly so it seems like you shift sooner and while you get the immediate (sensational) rush of power in the GTS, it doesn't feel as strong on the high end as the TR. Of course, there is nothing like pulling 7000 RPM and the car is still feeling like its got more to give. I haven't had the Viper on the track yet, or even driven it hard in the twisties, so it is hard for me to compare just yet (can't wait!). It seems a bit like Harley v Ducati, what's your pleasure? I like having both, and don't expect to tire of either. The TR is definately not a track car though, although it does amazing things, esp in high speed tracks like the Brickyard (yea, I have had it wound out in turn #13 (or #1 in 500). It just costs too much to fix if you break something, like a tranny or body part, IMO. Red, yea, can't seem to tire of it. Red Corvette, Red Carrera, etc... ;)

twinturbo3150-that's the cleanest my garage has looked in years! LOL

Thanks Sidewinder and F355 (Tifosi?).

Now have Archer Racing upgraded sway bars, Mintex pads up front, #3 brakemans in rear, and Hoosier slicks 305's and 335's. Also race pedals installed.

Don't know how to post photos in thread, but they are in my gallary if anyone wants to see them. ;) Jim

BTW, if you think the gears wind out too quick, someone probably did a gear swap. Vipers have about as long of a gear as any production car of its time (in your case 2000)

so you can do 55-58 in 1st, about 80 in 2nd, 120 in 3rd and 150 in 4th

test each one of those out, and verify that you get to those numbers, if you dont, then you have shorter gears in it, and thats whats making you think its runnin outta breath.

PS. When the cop pulls you over, tell him I told you to do it.

Soon as I get it off the blocks, I will check those speeds out! I have to do some high speed braking test/adjusting anyway. My mods are going kinda slow, since my main parts supplier is kinda slow to get stuff out the door and a bit disorganized (some wrong parts, missing parts, etc.). Oh well, it a fun winter project! :2tu:

Finally got the car off the blocks! I also got the harness on driver's side installed. Decided to cut the bulkhead and keep the stock look and glovebox, etc, rather than downgrade with plain fiberglass panel. Looks great and stops like a bear! I do have a little rattle of some kind in the back that I have to locate. Get alignment tomorrow, and can try revvvvving it up some! Check out the gallery of pics of the car lowered to 4" in front, 6" in rear. Nice height, looks good, no probs with driveway entrance. ;)

Wow, dodged a bullet yesterday! Took car in for an alignment and while on rack noticed the serpentine belt was shredded. The bolt holding the balancer on was loose and the balancer was coming off! Holy crap, almost lost an engine there!!!! That would have put a damper on my new life as a Viper owner, know what I mean???

F355=model of ferrari. Tifosi=ferrari lover....

Thanks Rainmaker. Send some rain my way to help me pay for all these toys! Jim
