The K&N website says to service every 50-100k miles of street driving, more frequently if in off-road conditions (e.g., those of you enjoying "off-the-track" excursions, LOL). Notably, they say that the dirt buildup actually helps the filter's performance. I have been told that this is because a fine layer builds and cuts down on the flow-thru of smaller particles.
So stop cleaning the K&Ns, put down the Zaino, and drive the d*mned car!
