Khumos rears for better bite?

Is there anymore positive feedback for Khumos on the rear (335-17's)? I've got stock pilots now and want something with more traction to hook up better on the street. I don't want to go with a seperate set of wheels, skinnies, slicks, etc. I'm not that into it. Just something simple to replace the rears with with some better traction than pilots...

Thanks!

I have Kuhmos 17" 335's and I went to Sacramento Raceway and pulled off a 1.67 60' time in seven runs. These tires can hook if you heat them up. I have only run in California once. All the rest of the times I have been in Utah @4500 ft. I think if I had some practice I might be able to get down to 1.5x 60' time.

I also did some 0-60 times and dropped my times by .45 seconds.

We run the Victoracers all the time on the Cobra. For the money, they are very good tires. The do last longer than regular race tires, but it looks like we get 20-25 heat cycles before they begin to give out. They are downright dangerous when cold, however, and provide little grip. When warm, they get sticky and throw stuff on your car.

As much as I love the tires, I would not consider putting them on the Viper to drive on the street. If you have separate wheels and want something that will last a while on the track, they are great.

If you do get them, go ahead and get them shaved and heat cycled. Even on shaved tires the the treads will last a lot longer than the heat cycles.

Have fun!

The Kuhmos hook alot better than stock pilots when they are warm. I think they still handle pretty well and are comparable if not better than the stock pilots. I do not run them all the way around because they are 17". That is the only problem with these is that they only make it in a 17" wheel. I run 18" stock tires up front and 17" in the rear, only when I go to the track.

Do you run Khumos all around? I'll still keep my Mich Pilots up front so I hope that won't be a problem..

Nice recipe for disaster when the fronts won't turn but the rears are still digging in and grabbing. Becareful on everything but straight line acceleration.

Are these the DOT tires everybody's talking about? V700's I think. I am looking to buy some for the upcoming VOI drag racing contest and want to make sure to get the right ones. Thanks,

Mike

utah, looks like you've got some good power in your car . Do the khumos hook better than stock Mich. Pilots in your opinion? Are they a step down from streets? Do you run Khumos all around? I'll still keep my Mich Pilots up front so I hope that won't be a problem..

Gerald-I run them on all 4 corners. here in calif I haven't had much debris flying. I thought it might be a big problem, but it seems fine.

Running with a 200 shot they hook well when warm. So if you are cruising around they will heat up and then you can start running them hard.
I too ran at sacto raceway, but sat in line so long they got cold, By 10:30 pm I was spinning at 2,000 rpm launches w/o nitrous. When i drove home (fwy) I tried a 4500 rpm launch, great hook up.

Varanus,

Cool..that's what I wanted to hear.. How would you say they compare to Mich. Pilots? What about the stiffness in cornering? Looks like I"ll have to get all 4 or can I run my stock Mich's up in front?

Thanks
Gerald

The way you drive you could put bycicle wheels on the fronts, Grandma.
