those FRICKEN PICKS KICKED ME OUT FOR RUNNING TO FAST TONIGHT.

first run i missed 2nd gear but got back into it and ran a 12.8 (sucky i know),
i come back to the lane and they warn me that if i go faster then 13.99 i would
have to leave. i told them the srt/10 had been approved without a rollbar to run
11.49. (AM I FRICKEN WRONG HERE???????????????????) those COKE SUCKERS (you know
what i'm saying here) wouldn't believe me and pulled the rule book out which was
very vague.

so my second run i post a 12.1 119mph AND THEY WAVE ME BYE BYE. (FRICKEN PICKS)

DOES ANYONE HAVE A COPY OF THE NEW RULES SHOWING THE SRT/10 HAS BEEN APPROVED
TO RUN 11.49 AND HIGHER WITHOUT A ROLLBAR. PLUS THEY SAID I WOULD NEED A FIRE
SUIT.

I NEED SOME HELP HERE GUYS.

I RAN AT THE SAME TRACK 3 WEEKS AGO WITH THE VETTE GUYS AND A BUNCH OF US RAN
UNDER THE 13.99 BLIND FOLDED, IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN.

I AM FRICKEN HISSED OFF BIG TIME

CECIL COUNTY DRAGWAY, IN MARYLAND

I understand you are upset, but there is no reason for the fowl language.

My understanding is that the new NHRA rules allow for STOCK production cars to run into the 11's if they have ABSOLUTELY no modifications.

If your car is completely stock they should have let you run.

Aftermarket Gears are not stock, shifter may not be stock, tires/wheels, superchargers, heck even too many coats of Zaino might not be considered stock.

Many of the officials are not up to speed on these new rules. It sometimes is up to us to bring them up to speed (pun intended) in a non emotional manner.

Sorry that you were kicked off the track. I hear that each track has its own personality, and sometimes they get over zealous.

(1) i made a point of not using any foul language, if i errored in any way
please except my deepest apolidgy.

future words i will try to refrain from using - (i'll leave well enough alone)

(2) now were talking paul, THE NEW RULES - that is what i am looking for. do
you have them and if so please post if you will.

i do have smooth tubes with the k&n filters which by the way i purchased from
you and am very happy with, thank you very much.

Here is a link to the NHRA page.

A number of modifications are allowed, including "competition exhaust" and other modifications. It's actually pretty loose on what is considered "pure stock."

I had a similar issue at my local track, but I had printed out these web pages to show to the tech guys, so they let me run.

I don't get it so would I be allowed on my local track as well? I think they require helmets and all this other crap if you do anything under 13! Does this not apply on stock cars that can get into the 11s/12s?

Cecil's officials told me, that I was not allowed to run my RT/10 just because it had NX tanks...

How's that for a rule?

Eventually they did let me run, but without NX, finally after talking to them they allowed me use NX on the last pass...

It is a nice track, but I dont think they see me again there.

Tom, I didn't think of this last night but are you sure they knew you had a viper? Maybe they thought you had a C6 vette?

I just e-mailed this article to the track manager at the Atlanta Dragway. The new guy there seems pretty cool, but I want to make sure he shares it with his tech people... ASAP.

That's actually correct from the old rules. Any convertible car needs a rollbar (and of course a helmet) if running under 14 seconds. It's just that most tracks realize that even though DC openly states that the sport cap on a R/T10 is "not a roll bar", it really is.
And so they will usually allow you to run down to 11.99.
Below that point you need 5-point belts, a full rollbar with sidebar, and a host of other safety bits.

But the recent rule changes allow totally factory stock cars to run as low as 11.49 without those bits.

Still it's up to the track techs (and the track's insurance carriers) on how they interpret the rules.

Hopefully seeing the latest changes on paper should change their tune, but it's certainly not guaranteed.

Good luck! :2tu:

Personally I hate Cecil, nice down hill track. But the officials **** and waiting forever for a pass is not my cup of tea.

Was there 4 years ago with a TT RX7 and got in 4 passes in 5 hours.

I am going to arrange a viper track day at ****** Springs IHRA track, sometime soon. ****** Bob will let you run whatever without a cage on a private track rental. Track is not as nice, but it is a 1/4 mile track and fun as hell.

The convertible rule will trump the totally stock rule. While it doesn't say "except convertibles" they will tell you that. Open cars do not play by the same rules. I faced the same thing at Cecil. I went home ,got my thin piece of fibeglass top and guess what I was able to run as fast as I wanted.

I also got kicked off the track when i told them about the new rules, they said they don't have to go by those rules if they didn't want to. So about 5 or 6 calls and a letter from my attorney claiming "discrinination" they said they would let me back and "see what happens". The week i was going to go back a fellow viper owner crashed his stock rt10 shifting to 3rd. That track is so messed up that i just didn't want to go there anymore.
