I putting a set of the Kumo Ecsta V700 tires on the Viper for both street driving and speed trials....

does anyone have experience with them on both the street and track, and could give a good starting point for tire pressures?

the track usage would be slightly faster and more open than an autocross, but not a full out roadcourse...

thanks!

I don't know about the new Kumho,as there are not alot of guys that have experience with this tire, but I ran 28 to 30 ( cold ) depending on the track. I had 315's all the way around, so if you have smaller diameter tires in front, I would use at least a 2 lb differential over the rears ( more air ). Some of the guys I know running Spec Miatas are using slightly more air with this tire than with the Victoracers, but they even admit they are still experimenting.

Brooks, please post your findings on hookup with the Kumho meat, seems to be a debate if the times are any quicker for street use and 1/4 mile duty. Quicker road course time for sure,......

3000 mile tread life, gotta love it!

well as an experienced owner of these tires I love them, Watkins Glen I ran 30 cold at the drag strip I run 20 to 22 pulling 1.7 60' times, I am actually going to the strip tonight with my street tires and see how bad my 60' times are.

they held up fine in the rain..... just don't go through any standing water...

I went through a puddle and felt the car slide a little....

I am running 32 psi all around and will probably drop the rears to 30 when I do the speed trial next weekend.... I'll post how they perform....

Kuhmo recommends pressures between 35 and 40 psi in the info. that came with my tires. They say "add pressure in increments of 2 psi to the end of the car that looses traction first". I run mine at 35 on the street and drop to 25 to drag.

Which style is the Kuhmos to get? I have also heard of the VictoRacers or something like that. Those were the ones I was going to get. Is there ones that are better? I was planniong on buying these and use them on the street too. How long do you think these tires will last? Suggestions?

I had the car out at the track yesterday and today..... I started with 34psi front and 32 psi rear..... the car was pushing really bad.... I increasd the fronts some more, and lowered the rears, same deal, push, push, push..... when hot I got a 6 psi increase in tire pressure, which was too much...... after a few laps I would have less and less traction...

anyway, I dropped the pressures way down to 29psi front and 28psi rear and everything was MUCH better.... the first day I still lost to a new decked out twin turbo porsche and a Z06 by about 2/10's.....

for the 2nd day I took out the sport shims and reduced the static toe to about 1/8...... ended up beating the twin turbo by 2/10ths.... but the Z06 got me by 2/10ths on his last lap!

next time....
