My wife and I just did a 16,000km trip from northern Alberta Canada across the US and Canada, gone a total of 6 weeks. The 3rd gen viper is truely an touring machine, car ran grea :headbang: t, the removal of the cats helped heat problem greatly. I would like to see cruise control, compass, outside temp. and if I could cross the line alittle touring ride option. Please respond with thoughts, even the SRT engineers could respond. Thanks Andy Perrotta

Hey, we are making a similar trip later this summer, only not in the Viper. Figure Jasper, Banff, and a few other stops (Yellowstone, etc.). Should be about 6,000 miles in around two weeks time. It's funny, because I am used to the compass/thermometer in my other cars and always find myself looking for it in the Viper. That said, I wouldn't change a thing on the car other than adding a coupe. Otherwise it is a Corvette. ;)

One question: You mention removal of the cats to help with the heat. As the SRT has two sets of cats, did you just remove the secondary cats on each side? It is my understanding that if you try to remove the "pre-cats" that you will trigger the sensors and your Check Engine light. Just curious on your approach.

Great trip, and feel free to post some pictures - I'll bet there were some pretty incredible backdrops for that Viper!

You have to really be mentally prepared for such a long trip in a car like the SRT. The car wears me out on a trip. Part of the wear is worring about damaging the car.

I guess if you have a good companion with you to share the adventure, it could be sort of fun.

ps, how did the tires hold up to the miles?

I did a five thousand mile road trip in my SRT in May. I now have 17,000 trouble-free miles on the car.(If Dodge is reading this, I will be happy to road test the next coupe) I think the run-flats have a longer life expectancy than the those on my GTS(somewhere around 20,000). I take the usual precautions with the car but not to excess. People as a whole respect and appreciate the car. Bob :2tu:
