ive decided to go with this route for the time being. eibach (2830.140) 1" and partsrack lowering spring caps. anyone have this set up or know of anyone? i know most go with the motons but i cant justify spending $5k just for the lowered look.

I can understand the cost concern with Motons but keep in mind you may have problems with the stock shocks since they are operating out of their intended range and could potentially bottom out. Have you talked to Chuck about it?

Either way I hope it works out.

This setup is going to look great, however it will handle like crap. You may even want to add bump stops to the shocks and keep it far away from any tracks.

Just curious, why would you run the lowering spring caps and the eibachs? I lowered my car with springs and it is low. It drives really nice on a smooth road and handles great, until you hit large bumps at speed.

Does anyone have the eibach springs, Im sure someone on this board has done it. The car sits way to high, everytime I see a gts or a RT10 I feel like I have a lift kit

Henn****** was talking about the KW's on the other site and a good price which I'm sure Jon B would match - not sure what that price is yet? Penske's were also discussed in the $3400 range. Motons by themselves seem to be around $4k. KW's seem to be positioned as a decent street shock for those that want to lower with minimal track use.

My only question would be why go the eibach route "for the time being" as you state, as you'll have the cost of the springs/caps if you go that route plus the cost of a 4 wheel alignment which I'm assuming you'll have to do again if you go to different shocks in the future.

I still do not understand why anyone would conside the KW's for over $3k when you can have the Penske's for $3.35k

do you know this from experience? just wondering...

YES, I have tried many different combinations that lower the car with the stock shock bodies and different springs, threaded body sleeves, my own upper and lower spring seats - they all looked great but they handled very poorly. I did try it on a road course, and continuously bottom the shocks out as the spring rates would head to zero quickly under certain conditions. This was very bad especially without bump stops.

You will end up spending well over $1000 and regret it every time you drive the car. Save your money and do it properly. If you can wait around six months I will have a new solution.

So why do the Penske's get such little discussion? Any and all info / pics that you could provide would be appreciated. How would the Penske's compare to the Motons?

Penskes are good...the problem is nobody makes a kit...you have to fabricate your set or pay someone to do it. My neighbor had them on his SRT and they worked great. I like my Motons better.

The Penske's are all custom made (valving). The Motons Club Sports are off-the-shelf bolt on. This makes the Moton kit easier for people to buy & bolt-on. Depending on who you buy the Penske's from will make a great difference in the installation and setup.

I personally like the Penske shocks better, as the parts are easy to obtain fast & at a much lower price then the Moton rebuild parts. The Penske's use the same piston and valve layout in the 8100 series all the way upto the shock they use on their Indy cars.

I had spring caps -- very bouncy. Don't know why, but very bouncy on the highway. Front caps seemed to work fine, but if doing it over again, I'd leave the rear caps as stock (not lowered), to better handle the bumps.

Guys, just keep in mind that bottoming out shocks is a sure-fire way to blow them out. the SRT's are running too low in the shock travel even STOCK IMHO, and lowering it even more will result in virtually no shock travel. Hit a bump hard, and its goodbye shock seals. Some guys have gotten away with it, but I have personally replaced close to a dozen blown out shocks on the SRT's. On stock cars, its always 1 at a time, but on lowered cars, it has been 2+ each time. Simple math tells you that lowering is the culprit.

If your roads ****, consider... hard... before you do it. Unless you have great roads, consider the motons. And yes, they have their issues too- they dont bottom out, they hit your fenderwells with your tires first. Great. (but at least that can be tuned out, or add bump-stops)

I have the Eibachs on my 06 coupe. They lowered it one inch, which as recommended by others here was enough. The ride seems to be the same as stock, but looks much nicer. Just took a 500mile trip with no problems at all. John
