Well, after many months, I unveiled my newly remodeled Viper garage this weekend at a outdoor birthday party at the house. It was a big hit.

I started with your run-of-the-mill "hell hole" garage. I like to think of it now as another, inviting interior room that is a fully functional garage. It's a room that my 3yr old girl can hang out with me while I work.

Here are the details:

- Wall to wall MotorMat in gray & yellow
- Wired and hung retractable extension cord and retractable work light
- Mounted retractable air hose reel
- Wired and hung 25" TV with VCR in main garage, 19" in work room
- Wired and hung flat AM/FM/CD player with remote
- Work room is air conditioned 24x7
- Garage is air-conditioned on demand -- switch opens damper from A/C plenum
- Work benches in garage and work room
- 2 sets of Gorilla shelves that hold 16 large containers for storage
- Fan in both garage and workroom with programmable remote controls
- Motion and door alarms in both garage and workroom -- tied to house security with wireless transmitter to center
- Electronic/motorized dead bolts on external doors that use combination keys
- Hung workshop towel dispenser
- Sofa that also pulls out to a bed (for the little one)
- Full recessed incandescent flood lights
- Ultrasonic parking indicator
- Drywall is fully finished with texture and base boards
- Almost all wires are run through the attic and walls for a clean look
- Various garage wall hangings

Just ordered my motor mat last week, but my garage won't hold a candle to this one.

You guys have way too much time on your hands

my family thinks I'm crazy for just hanging outdoor speakers
out in the driveway so I can listen to music while I'm washing
the snake.

It's like I told em... I probably spend more time out there washing
than I do in the house.... might as well enjoy it some.

I have been working on my garage the past 2 weeks. Insulation, sheet rock. Trim work on windows and doors. Ran some plugs, painted everything but the floor. I just power washed the floor tonight.

(My car is ready, the rebuild is done. Going to Tator's on thursday to pick it up)

Where do you get the retractable worklight and air hose set up?

The retractable air hose is from Home Depot. Get this, only $50 and that includes the hose and everything you need! Incredible price in my opinion. It's mounted to a 1' x 1' board that has 3/8 carriage bolts. The board is then screwed to a stud with 3 heavy duty wood screws.

The retractable work light and extension cord are Sears hardware. Very high quality units and still not expensive. The wiring for them runs into the attic for a trick look.

Overall, my garage is high impact for the dollar. Nothing is overly extravagant in terms of cost, which I think adds to the impressiveness.

cycloneGTS: You probably already received your MotorMat (they ship really fast), so I wanted to let you know that you can make your life a lot easier if you use a circular saw to cut the tiles. The instructions say to use a utility knife, but that is very painful in large quantity. The circular saw cuts them like butter -- and then you can use a terry cloth towel to quick remove the burrs.
