Im running a muffler delete on my RT/10. I absolutely positively love it! Muffler shop cut off the stock muffler and welded the tips from the muffler onto the straight pipes to retain the stock look. The car sounds louder, meaner, idles louder and pops like crazy deacceleration. total cost: $100

I'm running the Stainless Random Technology muffler delete. Has 4" tips and a crossover pipe. Looks awesome and sounds great! $495 at Parts Rack. A+

Do you get the de-cell popping with this piece?

Muffler delete on my RT/10. Nice sound, just a little bit louder. Muffler shop did it for $150. I should have had it done the day after I bought the car seven years and 100,000+ miles ago.

Lotsa threads about this topic. Do a search.

Big improvement over stock. If you buy it from Partsrack, you can upgrade to catback in the future.

Yes, you get a little de-cell popping. But, not enought for me. :)

Rear muffler delete is definitely the first thing to do. Huge inprovement over stock I think. I guess living in a rural area has it's advantages, I got it done in 2001 for $30 at my muffler shop, including welding the stock tips back on. Even today, It still wouldn't be over $40-50 dollars. I see no reason for anyone to spend big dollars for this mod to achieve the same thing any good muffler can do in a half hour or so.

I'm not a big fan of the popping, to the avg. joe, it sounds like something is wrong with the car, like it is back-firing or something.

Popping is unburnt fuel coming out the exhaust. VEC1 in 2002 completely took care of that problem. Added 14HP and 20 pounds of torque in the process.

Mine came with muffler delete and stock cats. Honestly, it sounded like my neighbor's boat (big block) in the water while idling. I since then purchased the complete Roe 3" stainless high flow cats and muffler. Still just as loud, but sounds more like a car than a boat now. :nana: BTW, I have a GEN 1.

I had the mufflers and cats removed in my '95, and installed chambered mufflers. These were actually prototypes tuned specifically for the Viper, but were never used by Dodge. The manufacturer was able to get them back from Dodge for me. My car sounds like a 60's Big Block V-8 on steroids! Here is their website, they are supposed to be featuring my car on it some time: http://www.classicchambered.com/index.html

OK---here's a little sound clip.

Exhaust Clip

..all right........maybe I went a little further than just the muffler delete ;)
...but that's what I started with.

Would a muffler AND cat delete be too loud ?

Remember that there are silencers behind the cats as well (something I didn't realize at first). I hear the real loudness doesn't come until the silencers are removed.

ok, Im oging to start cutting tommorow, with that being said, should I start with cutting the cats and silencers out first, and if thats not loud enough go ahead and cut the muffs ? or should I just cut the muffs and see how that sounds ?

If you cut out the cats, you will get flames out of the exhaust. Source: Chuck Tator.

I'm upgrading to what MacManInfi did, from a simple muffler delete. You still have cats, but they are high flow. Partsrack has the sound clip.

Cats would be the last thing to come off of my car, if for nothing else but to save myself and everyone else the rotten smell. ;) Deleting the muffler is gonna make it a bit louder. Deleting the silencers is gonna make it a lot louder.

And BTW, the Random Technology silencers are directional, with little air louvers cut into the pipe that goes through the silencer. A tech at Random Technology told me that the scoops are designed to point upstream, but that you can turn the silenders around so the scoops point downstream. The silencers will flow better, but the exhaust note will be a lot louder.

So kind of cool. After driving my car for a few weeks (and still loving the sound), I think I might flip the silencers around and turn up the volume some more!
