Well, I drove from Sacramento to Dallas in 18.5 hours. Its was 1700 miles. Mapquest said it would take 29 hours, not in a viper.
Very happy with my 00 Viper ACR creampuff. Black with Silver
stripes. Will post pics Monday. Well, could not wait for the 03, so bought the ACR.

I cant believe I made it that fast either. Ran about 120 threw the desert for for 5 to 8 miles at a time in Arizona, New Mexico, and part of Texas. The trusty radar detector saved the day more than one occasion. Drove to Phoenix to ship got the d*ck
around so just drove it in. The car performed flawlessly. Ran threw about 9 tanks of gas. Just did the distance on the odometer about 1700 miles.

1800 miles in 18 hours? That's a reasonable speed that many of our highways are capable of. Silly to travel 70mph in the middle of nowhere ain't it?

I only noticed about 4 cops the whole trip. Except for the air patrol. They mark the areas with white strips and sighs so, you really know where to slow down. Stopped and slept for 7 hours in Palm Springs so drive time is still the same.

Congrats on getting back in one piece with no "go to Jail" stops. I saw your posts and figured you were coming to sacto which is about an hour and a half from where I live. It sounds like you did what i did. I bought my GTS in October in Houston and drove it back. Left Sat at about 2 pm and got home Sunday night about midnight. I slept for 5 hours in Tucson. I didn't speed like you did cause i was too paranoid of getting a ticket, esp in west texas. I had a radar detector, but there was so litlle traffic I was afraid that when it went off, it was a read on me and not on a car up ahead. Plus I drove mostly at night. When I got back to California I got caufght in lots of slow traffic thru the Los Angeles area where I learned how unpleasant the viper can be in stop and go traffic for a few hours. Then up I -5 where everybody goes 80 to 90 I got caught behind semitrucks (Tyson Chicken) who were only doing 60 or so and were trying to pass each other up. Unforntunately it takes them about 10 miles to do so and all of them are trying to pass each other. Meanwhile lines of traffic were backing up behind them, but they didn't care and there are only 2 lanes so they slowed me down for about 100 miles. I was exhausted when I got back, but happy to finally have my car.
Anyway, would have liked to have said Hi while you were here, but you did a quickie like I did. Have fun with your new toy.

I picked the car up with 645 miles on the new motor. I did not really get on it till after L.A.. So, the car had well over the thousand mile break in Arrow recommends.
I may be young, but I'am not stupid......

JonB could explain better. A small number of the cars produced from the end of 99 into 00 had a new cylinder wall process. From what I understand it caused oil loss in most of the cars. So, the motor in my ACR has been I guess you say upgraded. Did not loose any oil from the long drive back from Cali.

There was oil loss, it applied to about 300 cars I think. Like I said JonB know the whole situation. He explained it to me. It's strange that the 01 Z06's had almost the same problem. DgeViper1
I like your car alot, Oh thats why I bought mine.

What year is your car? I have not heard anything negative about arrow. But, then again some people always have something negative to say.

Cstegall, hope to see you at one of the meets. Very easy to recognize. I'm the youngest one there. Or, maybe we can do a cruise some day soon.
