I replaced my plugs and wires today and did a compression test while I was at it. I called Tator afterwards on a different issue and mentioned my results to him and he said they all sounded good so this is for anyone who may do a search later on what acceptable compression ratings are. Car is a 96' RT/10 and mileage just flipped over to 59k.

Cylinder 1: 150
Cylinder 2: 145
Cylinder 3: 150
Cylinder 4: 140
Cylinder 5: 150
Cylinder 6: 140
Cylinder 7: 150
Cylinder 8: 140
Cylinder 9: 145
Cylinder 10: 140

I'd also like to thank Tator for getting me plug wires so quick. I called him and order Monday morning and they showed up today. I know its been 100's of posts saying what a treasure Chuck is to the Viper community and they are all 100% true. I've called Chuck for a couple technical issues in the past, but this was my 1st time ordering from him. As usual, I'm 100% pleased and will definitely do more ordering with him in the future

Someone else might want to chime in, but, my Gen 1 averaged 160-165 and my Gen 2 is the same or a little higher. This is a warm reading with a Snap-On gauge. I would think 140 is a little low, maybe the 59,000 miles is the reason. Chuck! - give us some more insight.

If you look close, bank 1 is consistently higher than bank two ??

For those that search and find this later in the archives, note that each motor is different and that a different compression ratio on a car will have different results. so if you have different heads or non-stock head gaskets, your results may vary. i've seen 140-150 generally but some cars are more and some less. the variance from cyl to cyl is what matters. if most are 140-150 and one is 90 (or zero) then you got an issue.

You have a few variables to consider: no two gauges are a like and 59K. 140 to me > "Rock & Roll" [it's fine].

All odd # cyl. but one =150, all even cyl. but one =140. If dodge still numbers them like they used too, sounds like his passengers are wearing out their side faster.  :D

That sounds good to me! My Gen2 with 86,000 on it did'nt do so well. It ranged from 180-135. Then the leakdown test - it ranged from 12% to 75%. The motors out and getting freshened up!
