My first attempt to post pictures - \'96 GTS

I have my fingers crossed that these will actually appear. I was at the ocean a couple of weeks ago and shot some pictures of my '96. These two are the best ones.

How did you keep your tires so clean in the second picture and where are the tire marks on the sand?

BEAUTIFUL CAR! Cool pictures! Yeah? Where are the tracks? Did you leave the car there long enough to have the tide wash them away? or photoshop?

only 1 little thing, I can't help seeing it. The hood gaps at the edge of the headlights are terrible. First thing I look at on the Viper....sorry.

Bob,

Very nice photo's. Excellent use of lighting. It seems everytime I have the opportunity to take pics of my Viper, the sun is high in the sky, causing all sorts of glare. The best time for pics are during either sunrise or sunset. Was that taken during sunrise?

Glad you didn't get stuck in the sand.

Re: My first attempt to post pictures - \'96 GTS

Thanks for all of the positive comments guys. There is an interesting story behind theses photos.
I went to Ocean Shores for a bowling tournament with one of my team mates and decided to take the Viper. I had just gotten a new Canon 10D digital camera and wanted to try it out. On Sunday morning I headed to the beach at 6:00AM as the sun was rising. The tide was way out and the sand was very firm (hence minimal tire marks). I shot several photos from different angles (80 - 200mm f2.8 Canon lens) and moved the car a few times. The last time I got in to move it the battery was dead!!! There was no one else around. I tried to call my friend but discovered that his cell phone was in my car! Panic set in as I imagined the tide coming in with waves up to the windows and my favorite Viper sinking away in the sand. You can only imagine how I was feeling.
In the distance I saw a person jogging along the tide line headed in my direction. When he got close enough I flagged him down and explained my predicament. He was a nice guy here from Australia on vacation. With some effort the two of us pushed the car (up hill) to slightly above the previous night's high water mark. I was starting to feel a little better. Shortly after that two young guys in a Jeep came tooling up the beach and they just happened to have jumper cables. My ordeal was over but I'll never forget the visions I had of my car buried in sand and salt water. Would have made some great photos, eh??
By the way, I bowled a 265 the first game of the tournament!

Great pictures and story. Nothing like that sinking feeling of a really good idea suddenly seeming like a really bad idea. Don't worry about ViperFreak2. He's just jealous that you have a real Viper clamshell hood instead of a camaro wannabe hood like on his '03.

I started out in caps with 'BEAUTIFUL'

Maybe some people don't have an eye for quality? 1/2" gaps at the hood edges make a great looking car look bad to me. I SAID SORRY!

Maybe he'll get it fixed now?

Show me a Mercedes SL with a bad gap....

Hell, show me a Kia with a bad gap.

I've had 2 clamshells. The '99 fit PERFECT! The '02 was horrible, and was told it was 'normal' by my local dealer and couldn't be fixed. I care about peoples opinions, but not enough to change my mind that I'm happy with the '03. If someone pointed out that the hood didn't line up on my SRT, and I agreed....I'd get it fixed. I wouldn't mind the observation. Just another opportunity to perfect it.

It's like the guy who told me yesterday "I've driven a Viper, doesn't handle as good as a Vette, too front heavy". Just another opinion different than my own. No stess.

If anyone comes here for only praise and not helpful hints.....

Terrific pictures and ones that you will remember forever. It looks like a real together car!

By the way, congrats on getting the pictures to post -- most people don't have such good luck.

Wow, beautiful... blow those pictures up and make yourself some posters, frame some for your garage and give them out at car shows. I know I want one ;)

Absolutley amazing pictures! It is pics like this that will drive us all to Barret-Jackson events 25 years from now and plunk down zillions of dollars.

Unfortunately what should be a great thread is riddled with crap about hood gaps and camaro wannabes.

Bob,

Great Looking Pictures!! Lemme guess, the second pic is the frantic one where you're dancing around trying to flag someone down due to all of the footprints in front of the car! LOL!!

Your car looks terrific!
