That same thing happened to me less than a week after I got my 2001. It kind of shocked me but I felt it was a quirk. I didn't take it back to the dealership because an an engineer, I believe if something has a design flaw it is flawed what is getting a new part with the same flaw going to do... fall off again when I'm on the track going 140 mph... no thanks! Rather than messing around with the pin and spring I put it back on using a screw, some washers so the pedal can swivel, and a couple locking nuts. I was kind of a pain to squeeze under their to do it and if I had to do it again I would remove the seat first but I feel it is a much better solution and design. Good luck!
