CLOSED

OPEN

The rear window will go above the side windows as soon as I get the hardware.
The U-bolt holding the top up looks unprotected but in fact has a clear vinyl tube over it.

Closed I thought it was a matted frame, looks great.
I just ordered the letters last week too. Do you have a close up of how you are restraining the hard top?
What thickness plywood did you use? How much do you think it weighed? What did you use on the edges?

Do you have a supply list you would share? I would like to make one, & it sure would be easier using the correct measurements.

Thanks
Andy

Hi Andy. The only thing holding the top is the U-bolt up above. There is 1 inch foam used on the bottom. There is enough room to slide the top of the top in and up the then the bottom in and down, resting on the foam. The plywood is ½ inch smooth on one side. One sheet is used. Inside dimensions are 54” X 45”. The wall side frame is 7 1/4 X 1 board and the cover side is 5 1/4 X 1 board. Totaling 12.5 inches extending from the wall. On the cover side, I dadoed (cut a channel) 1/4 inch in from the front edge and 3/8 inch deep to give it a frame look and structural integrity. The wall side is also dadoed flush with the wall edge to insert the plywood used to hang it up. Total weight? I put on half up at a time so its hard to tell. I did screw into the wall studs for mounting. I’ll try and find the parts list. I hope this helps. Its pretty easy to do.

I'm glad you all like it! Yes thats a piano hinge and I do use closure hardware. As soon as I find my parts list, I'll post it. The graphics were purchased off ebay. His name is Justin Heslinga and can be reached at [email protected].

Rt/ED was right you should market them, although you lost me at"dadoed". With no viper for 2 more months I have a lot of time on my hands & I think I could do it with a measurement & parts list. Impressive!
More close up pictures please..

Thanks for the great instructions & parts list. How come when I print it the first section runs off the right side of page? The second part looks like the margin is farther to the left & prints great. My computer skills ****!

Thanks Again

I made a top storage rack too. Mine bolts to the wall with a couple of hinges to rest the top on. However, I would be embarrassed to post mine after seeing how nice yours is.

Very nice job.
