My UnMcViper'd '96 Maisto 1:24 to RT/10

Well, I'm getting closer to replicating my '98 RT/10. So far, guess I'm stuck at '96 because of the hood. Managed to get the right exhaust setup by picking up a '96 McViper, gen II exhaust, gen II wheels. Problem is that McViper wheels are yellow, so out comes the black paint. I like the look, but I'm going to put on the correct chrome gen II wheels as soon as my next purchase comes in:

All I need is a gen II hood, but so far all I can find is a GTS-R, which generally is not cheap and I hate to just take it apart. Will keep looking but, as my previous email asked, did Maisto make any other gen II Vipers other than the GTS-R.

And, yes, sloppy painting of the black wheels....just temporary, will fix when change out for chrome and put on other RT.

Since you seem to be a DIY'er, Rick530 mentioned in one of my topics that there should be plastic chroming kits around. Looking good so far!

Since I only needed the frame and chrome wheels, just picked up yesterday a 96 RT/10 that was in good condition, but no box. Picked up for US$3.99. When it comes, I'll just swap out the frames and then all I will need is the gen II hood.

I'll clean up the body and buff out before I finalize. All depends on whether I can get a gen II hood in red. If I have to pain, that will take longer, but I can clean up some of the poor interior paint, like the inside of the hood.

I was a pretty good model builder back in the day.

If you are still looking for a GEN II Maisto makes a red with white strips 1997 GTS coupe, I picked one up at Costco 3 weeks ago. After posting this I just looked and all of my Maisto's are 1:18 scale......Sorry.

Thanks....I have come across many Maisto 1:18 red 97 GTS coupes with and without stripes. I was hoping that made the same in 1:24, but after much searching, they didn't.

I have a Bburago B&W 1:24 GTS, which has the hood I need. Considering taking it off and "fitting" it to the RT. Only issue is that the dimensions look to be off a bit and, of course, the hinge setup is different. So, might have to give up on the hood opening.
