which is notorious for nails!! I had 2 nails, 2 different times in my 98 Rt/10, the second time I went for a new tire, didn't feel safe with patches and plugs at higher speeds. I recently had a nail in my 2000 Gts as well!!! Plugged and patched that one, so far so good

I would only put a patch from the inside, since a plug tends to spread the plies in the tire and moves all the structure around and that is when you'll get separation. A patch will due fine because there is a greater pressure wanting to exit the tire and that patch will seal the hole with no thread separation. Make sure that the hole are is properly cleaned and prepped b4 putting on the patch. That's the only way to go.....
