Need advice on used \'99 Viper...

Any feedback or advice will be helpful.

I'm planning to look at a couple of '99 Vipers, one is an ACR (silver/blue), and the other is a GTS (silver). Were there any problems with this year? Anything else I should look out for? Both cars have an extended warranty that is transferrable.

Also, who is the preferred Viper tech in SoCal, and NorCal area.

I have a '99 RT/10.
Extremely reliable!
Kind of an "in between" year. Last year of the forged pistons and last year before ABS.

Correction...

Last year of forged pistons ..... but ABS started in 2001!

the 99 acrs had a rattle in the koni shocks, they were swapped out for another brand considered somewhat less desirable the following year (according to posts on this board). the acr seatbelts (5 points) are in the process of a recall. 2000 ACR's recveived an upgraded larger capacity oil pan.

there is a steering frame connector on all cars that is weaker than it should be and has been known to fail under extremely heavy track conditions. this was remedied in 2001.

99 is a nice year. forged pistions (more ameniable to supercharge or NOS upgrades), a bit more aggressive cam, all the bells and whistles (except abs and oil pan).

I have a 99 black silver stripes and connolly, one of 26 made in that color combo. Love the aggresive cam, even more aggresive with 1.7 T&Ds rockers. Idles like a top fueler drag race car,LOL.
