While washing my car, I noticed what appears to be a "split" in the crank pulley, almost like the ribbed section is formed flat, then bent around and welded to an inner pulley. Is this normal? Gen-1/2 pulley is not like this that I have ever noticed. sure looks intentional, but I would like a confirmation.

You would be able to see a diagonal split accross the ribbed secion of the pulley, easily visable with a flashlight, assuming the split is facing upward. (may even be visable if facing the opposite way, on the edge)

I have seen that split on the 04 crank pulley, I was poking around the belt trying to figure out why it was squealing like a dog. I thought it was cracked. Engine already that dirty
