need help on transmission/ throwout bearing sleeve

I have a 97gts, car went to dealer to have transmisssion replaced under warranty. Dealer ordered new trans. 4 weeks later,tranny arrives. Dealer goes to install tranny.(Thinks tranny is a 98) The throwout bearing holder would not fit over the housing on the tranny. After trying three diferent throwout bearing assemblies, dealer wants to machine .040 off the throwout bearing holder to make it fit. Do we have the wrong year parts or is this tranny out of spec? All info would be Gratefully appreceiated. Thanks,Tim

Don't let them change anything. Make them fix it with stock parts. They don't need to machine anything to make the right parts work.

Tim, I wouldn't let them grind down anything.

However, isn't your car the CS special? Any possiblity that your tranny isn't stock to the 97?
