Scott,

Give John Purner a call a Complete Custom Wheels (www.ccwheel.com, Phone (904) 258-0083). He makes rims for slicks and skinnies as well as for road racing and I am sure could offer a solution to fit your needs.

His mesh style wheel in full polish would look good with your color combo.

Good luck,

Anthony

If your serious about drag racing, don't waste your time on radials. The M/Ts and skinnies not only bite much better, but the Purner wheels take 60# of unsprung (vs stock wheels) weight off your car. That alone is a tenth in addition to three or four from the traction.

ScottP makes so much torque, i think if he puts on the M/Ts and skinnies, he will start braking parts. stick with tires like the Nittos, its just that they dont make them in 335s. I e-mailed Nitto asking them if they were ever going to make 335/30/18s for vipers, got no reply.

Yo,

You can lay the cut straight with the following combo;

A set of 17 x 10 Viper front rims and Nitto 555R 315 x 17 Drag Radials.

Otherwise its mount up your Purners and wobble around town until you get to the track(no flames intended, John P)

I e-mailed Nitto 6 months ago and they replied the 335/30-18 DR would be out in 3 months, so far no-go.

try the new kumho 335 35 17, 170 each from tire rack, it's supposed to be a road race tire, but has fairly soft sidewall and really soft compound.

If you're interested in (new) BF Goodrich 315/35R17 Drag radials for $75 each give Don Hawkins a call at 636-931-2390.

I bought 4 (2 pairs) for my car just because it' such a cheap price.

Guys,

Remember this guys is driving a 2000 GTS which has 18" rims. Alot of people are suggesting Nitto or BFG drag radials, but they will NOT fit on his wheels - front or back!

I completely agree that drag radials are the way to go for the street (side benefit - they can be had for under $100 each easily, vs around $300 for stock meats).

Scott, be aware that you will either need 17" rims to do this, or you will have to wait until Nitto supposedly comes out with their 18" tire.

I was campaigning Nitto a while back to make these in 18" - I even asked for folks on this board who would be interested. Nitto said if there were enough people, they would do a custom run of 17" 335 sized radials, but they said that 18" was not a good candidate due to the smaller sidewall, HOWEVER if enough people would be interested, they would do a custom batch. I think they wanted something like a 1,000 tire minimum - and I was only able to get 10 people interested or so

I dunno if things have changed, but I got 5 different answers when I talked to 5 different salesfolks. I was dealing with a single contact there, but I don't remember who as this was over a year ago now.

I've heard NITTO's coming out with 18's.I'm not happy with a drag radial that doesn't fit the viper tubs and changing rims.I'm also not happy having a virtually stock supra with a drag radial spank me!I'll be calling purner soon.

John,

Thanks for the info - I know that Nitto has an 18" DR tire, but not one that works on the Viper (I didn't know anyone had tried it!).

When I was talking to them about an 18" tire, it was one with a shorter sidewall (basically a 345/35-18 actually rather than the 335), and they said that with such a short sidewall, it would not work as well as even the 17" does, but that they would do whatever people wanted in a custom batch of tires.
