I highly recommend you check your emails before you encourage others to buy product from you. As of right now you and I are going to have one hell of a conversation about your second shipment of "defective" product you just shipped to me. Does Yellow rear calipers ring a bell, missing $700.00 check, foreign matter in one of the rear calipers you just sent, etc. Check your email and apology is not accepted this time.

Best of luck with that.

I ordered a Hood Pad & HID Kit from him and was very satisfied.

Also got in on the group purchase emblems recently!

Unless they have changed their shipping policy, R & J Distributing Co considers the product as belonging to you once they drop it off at their shipper. Meaning that if it is lost or damaged in shipping, it is a problem for the buyer and the shipping company to resolve. I personally will not purchase from companies with this policy.

Re: need USED parts?? check with us in the

The problem here is not shipping damage. Long story short, and I do have all the gory details since I saved all email correspondence.

They shipped the yellow calipers to me before christmas. Everything looked great. Put them on car. Due to another supplier problem I had to delay installation a few days. Got back on schedule. During the bleeding of the rears and wasting about $30 of brake fluid I realized the rear parking brake assemblies were swapped side to side and what I had would not work. I box up all the cores and the two rear calipers so they can fix their assembly problem. Wait a week and get the new yellow rears back.

I look over them carefully since I do not want to waste more time and money. After I cleaned the rears since they were filty with grime, I realized they did not drive the piston back to a nested position. Meaning I can't install new brake pads. And as you know the rears are not a push it in, you are required to have the "special" tools to turn the pistons in. And I did try to do this with basic hand tools anyway, no success.

So this is the SECOND assembly mistake on their part. In addition, there is alot of "stuff" in the caliper. I noticed this on the original bleed of the rears. There was alot of particulate matter coming out of the rears. Is not a solid but more like a clear silicon grease. I am not talking about a piece or two. Maybe this does not matter but I don't think it should be in there. Well I looked closely at the just sent calipers and I can see that crap in the body of the caliper.

So I started this project before christmas and I still have the car on jackstands. I can understand mistakes and we worked together to get me my first parts corrected. However I was told these newly shipped parts would be perfect. They were filthy, contaminated (my call)and cannot be installed due to another mistake on their part by not compressing the piston. And I have returned my cores but no sign of the $700.00 core check.

I will post more to the story and I can post actual dates of activity. To be fair to them, as of right now I have not called. I am very perplexed that someone can have this lack of pride in their products. They do have an email about exactly what is wrong. In addition, I have not stated everything else I found deficient with the parts. Once this is over I will post a review in the Marketplace area so that others can atleast know what they could be getting into and how to check the parts once received. A once over glance will not work with these guys.

Ok an update. I am going to try and retract the pistons tonight with the "tip" that I was given. If it works great. The contaminant seen is a grease used for re-assembly of the seals. I will remove the big globs before I re-install the calipers. I still wonder what if any affect this has to the fluid over a period of time.

I want to be fair in my "reporting" so I will update later. Regardless, call me crazy, but when I pay for something I expect it to be as described.

I also hope you get that worked out. I did a core exchange on a GTS gas cap for a chrome one with venomblue 550, and was very pleased with product and shipping time.

I just took an old socket, I think about 5/8 or 17mm and ground off a little bit on opposite sides to leave two little nubs and it worked perfect. Stick it on an extension and push as you ratchtet it in. MGH

I have voiced my opinion on this vendor before and I'll say it again. I would NEVER buy from R&J again.

I purchased a front bumper and it arrived in shambles. After discussing the issue with R&J, I did get a refund. But the packaging was amateurish to say the least. Would you accept a "new" painted bumper shipped in bubble wrap? It wasn't even boxed. The bumper wasn't even new. The lower lip (the one that scrapes the ground) was non-existant.

R&J said that they'll just repaint it and sell it to someone else. Poor sucker.

If you still want to support this vendor, stick to the emblems/crap like that. They serve an aesthetic purpose only and do not have to stop your car from triple digit speeds.

ViperBite, return those calipers. You have been warned.

Re: need USED parts?? check with us in the

Well my Christmas weekend brake exchange project is now done. Got the email from them about just use pliers and push in while you rotate clockwise. I tell you what, that was hell. Finally got it in. Good thing cause my email reply pretty much was your on your own. My check is in the mail.

I don't think I will buy anything from these guys again. I know there are some who have had no problems. These guys had a chance to acquire a new customer.

They did respond and did provide help. However, I don't think they understand a customer service attitude versus a fire and forget attitude. I am not asking for freebies or for them to fly out here, but if you read all the emails you would get the drift. They did apologize so again, I am not saying they are bad guys.

All thats left is a actual drive to bed in the brakes.

First set delivered: Rears had parking brake mechanism switched side to side. Of the six bleeder screws two were severely corroded, one to the point where the hole was 1/2 closed. Pulled mine off the core set and used those.

Second set delivered: Filthy and pistons not retracted.

I guess the good news was/is, they are yellow.

Also if you do this, do not send in your cores until you have their set in your hand. Look over them extremely closely before you start your project.

Was all this trouble and cost just to have yellow calipers? Or did I miss something? If they were for your 2002 GTS It seemed a bit early for brake work. Just curious and by the way........... :needpics:

Wanted some bling, upgraded the rotors and was having some abnormal pad wear on the rears.

Pic shall be taken this weekend. Now have to look for some new wheels to better show off the brakes.
