I've got a Quaife with 3.33's on the way and have a few questions for you guys.

What is the proper break-in? I've read mostly about 300-500 miles gently and you'll be fine. Is this all that needs to be done? What about re-changing the diff fluid after the break-in?

What's the best gear oil to use with a Quaife for break-in? What about after break-in?

How often do you guys change the rear diff fluid after having installed a Quaife?

While we're on fluids, I'm going to do a tranmission fluid change as well. I've read little posts about different fluids for the tranny as well. What do you guys recommend? I've had good luck with Redline and Amsoil in other cars in the past.

Thanks

From what I have heard is 200 miles with no full throttle and change speeds regularly. This is supposed to eliminate gear whine. Not sure about fluids for a quiaffe as I am running a Giken.

Also let the gears engage on over run to smooth out the back of the gears.

After a hour or so, pull over and let the gears cool off.

Then you should be good to go.

I've "broken in" 4 Quaifes in Vipers with new gears now.

I'd recommend 500 easy miles with no long periods of driving for the first couple of sessions, i.e. less than 30 minutes, then let them cool completely.

I screwed up a couple sets of gears by not breaking them in properly.

On the diff gear oil for Quaife, Unitrax recommends several. They sent me Synergyn Syngear II when I asked them for the best.

On the trans, if you have a Gen III, use the factory fill. If you have a Gen IV, I've had very good luck with Redline Racing ATF.

Good luck,

Dan
