I just had the hood on my 94 inspected by the Service Director at the local Viper dealership. He concluded that I have a problem with stress cracks, and DC would not be willing to fix them. I pretty much already knew that, so it's up to me to take care of it.

Here's my question. Do I have the current stress cracks fixed, and hope that new ones don't appear? Can I still purchase a new hood from Dodge?? If I get a new hood, how close can they match the paint on the rest of the car??

I would like to educate myself on the options before I do anything.

Call Jon B. at Parts Rack (360) 837-3937 or Bill Pemberton at Woodhouse Dodge (Sorry, I don't have the #). These two gentlemen are the absolute authority for Viper questions.

We just went through the same ******** that Chrysler hands out on not standing by buy their products to save a few dollars, because money tight since Daimler bought them syndrome.

Have 95 RT, stress cracks in hood. Local dealer said DC would not help. Got in touch with John Gastman-Roanoake motors in IL, he told us they were taking care of hoods, after some more calls, DC then agreed to pay for 1/3 the repair cost, then they agreed to pay for 1/2 the cost.

Went and got repair bill which was $10,000.00. Sent it to DC with nasty gram certified letter about how they dont stand by their signature product and stick owners with the bill when it was their defect that casused the problem.

Now they are paying for a new hood (which has been ordered)and repaint.

If the dealer you have been working with, is not willing to help then go to another and dont accept no for answer.

Reqeusted to talk to the Zone Rep, district manager and make sure to open a customer care call to 800.992.1997. Once this is opened on your VIN then things will start happening. without this, no one has no account ability to your problem. once opened, everything will be put in this customer care file until resolution is achieved.

DC is repairing or replacing hoods, they are just making customers that have already paid for cars jump through hoops. Its just plain insulting.

This is the second battle we have gone through with DC and in the end they have made good. One from a court case, one after some complaining and being very persistant.

More B.S.

The 95 RT was bought used from a Porsche dealership in Florida.

They are just trying to blow you off. Every person they can get to live with the cracks or pay for the repair themselves, the better they are financially.

Money has gotten tight since Daimler bought Chrysler, Just dig in and start complaining BIG TIME. It will probaly take about a month worth of phone calls, complaints, letters and such, but you should be able to have them pay for it.

Let me know if we can help.
