Welcome Zman
You can learn a lot about the viper buy looking around but I don't think you'll get anyone to give their's up. I too was new to the board not to long ago, don't spend a lot of time posting just finding answer's to the mods I want to do. have fun and enjoy.

Joined the Forum to enjoy the discussions and to learn more of the car. Hoping I have not offended anyone by doing so.

No offense taken. That's what it's here for and hello from another previous Vet owner (yellow'94). Enjoy the Z06 now, but your day will come. Hopefully soon! Until then read as much as you can and feel free to chime in and ask questions.

Hey zman!!

Welcome to the forum. First lesson: Yellow is the slowest Viper of them all!!!

Flame suit on.

:)

Once you've had the pleasure of NGR, it's hard to go back........

Blue/White are the quickest and picks up the most ladies, no question.:)

Don't ever take me seriously.
Don't ever admit to being a liberal to Gerald Snake Bitten.
Don't ever mention the words "daily driver." I'm still on Prozac for reading that one too much.

Just my advice.

Welcome.

Hi ZMan,

I loved my C4 Corvette, and have enjoyed driving Z06s before as well.
But most of us who moved up to the Viper did so for many reasons, and the only reason that I could imagine someone going back to a Corvette would be if it's their only car, and they got a new job with a huge commute.
My viper is a daily driver, but I I've always had a short commute.

Good luck getting your own snake.

-Dean.

Welcome Zman.
I also spent time learning about the cars here before purchasing. (Which I bet you will do after spending time here!!)

Good luck.

97 blue/white for sure, it's the only Viper!

unbiased info as it gets, hahaha.....

difference between 96 and 02 is minimal mostly color choice, ABS big intro in 01, as well as the early Gen II being a little rougher around the edges, some NGR issues to go with that nice burbly overlapped cam that was softened up in 2000. Forged pistons changed to cast ($$$$) in 2000 as well, keep in mind if serious power adders are part of the plans, long term or not.

Other than that, if a newer color suits you fine jump on it, prices are nuts right now, with 02 cars not proportionately higher priced off 96 cars, all within 10K as a rough guess.

Good luck, there is no better bang for the buck than a Z06 though, that's unpopular fact on a Viper board!! Pulling on one stock for stock makes up for the $$$$ difference as fast as you can say 3.9. ;)
