Someone care to explain why Michelin would release the Supersports tires now and provide every size they have in their great big list EXCEPT the rear size confiuration for the rear tires of the GEN III/IV Viper? Seems extremely deliberate and down right dumb.

Can the VCA not step in with a petition to include the size. From everything they have written, the new Supersport absolutely blows away all their other Michelin tires before them including the PS2 and Sport Cup. Of all the sizes to include, it sure seems they would and should have included that one particular size. They make a 20" in that size but not the 19".

Definately waiting for a new Viper. The ACR guys are going to be as much out of luck trying to find sport cups for their gen 3-4 as the gen II guys are. GTS Bruce

New Viper might have 20s in that size but for me looking to finally get rid of my "no wear" Run Flats this summer, it is immaterial. Why would Michelin not want to keep the Viper owners happy and in the Michelin family with their best and latest and apparently greatest tire. I mean it is just ridiculous to have all other sizes listed for the new tire line but NOT that one specific size. It can only be deliberate. That bothers me to the point of almost telling Michelin where they can store their tires!

I have been exclusive Michelin for almost all my life on every vehicle. At Discount Tire, I apparently just found the "last" four Michelin Latitude Tour HP tires for my Cayenne Turbo S. They had to pull four seperate tires from local Discount Tires across the nation. Seems that those tires are on national back-order for the past month with an apparent availability date of September 2011 for brand new ones. They just came out with this Latitude Tour HP line about a 1.5 years ago. The Diamaris 4 X 4 and Latitude Diamaris before it were only lasting a whopping 8,000 miles on our Cayennes and road bad and I "granny" drive those. The whole racket is starting to add up.

They prob have a large backlog of PS2's to sell. Besides, they are a French company. The Viper should be shod with Goodyear Supercar tires. Michelin *****.

Careful with the French bashing. Michelin has perhaps the highest technology tires in the marketplace. As a business they are required to produce those tires to best serve the world wide marketplace.

In the past Michelin has stepped up to the plate and worked closely with Dodge to produce a special tire specifically for the OEM's needs. They had special markings for their finest tires for Viper fittment.

Michelin also produced unique high performance zero pressure tires so Dodge could produce a lighter car that did not need to carry a spare tire. While many complained that these run flats did not provide the optimum ride and performance, it was Dodge's decision to specify them for our Vipers.

It may well be that Michelin is doing additional research to provide the best tires possible in the Viper sizes, and that not being the first of the new breed may work out in our best interests.

I have seen nothing in the past that indicates that Michelin has ever done anything but be a first tier supplier to Viper. Maybe we should be just a bit grateful that Michelin has designed a new tire option for our Vipers that will enhance the Ownership Experience.

More sizes are evidently on their way soon. The tires released so far are a bit ahead of schedule. It was announced previously that sizes would be released as available, and that not all would be available right at the beginning.

Michelin discontinued the Sport Cup sizes for the Gen II as soon as plans showed the new ACR would use 19" rears. It's corporate, they could careless about owners feelings.

You guys beat me to it.....

Also how quick some are to forget. Remember not too long ago the French telling us to go f' ourselves? Something to do with the sandbox over yonder.......

I would not run their tires if they were given to me.

On Jan. 7 2011 Luke at the Tire Rack posted here about possible availability for all Viper sizes on May 1 but I guess they have been delayed. I would call Luke or Jon at the PartsRack for up to date info for delivery dates on the 19s. It may be soon.

Viper GTSR 91;

That at least sounds hopeful. I was at Discount Tire yesterday and they could not find any information and even made some calls to corporate only to find that they have no information on the GEN III/IV sizes of the SuperSports.

Those Latitude Tour HPs I bought on my Cayenne, I even had to pony up for the warranty certs (which I never buy) just in case something happened to one tire. Being AWD, if one goes I am screwed on the rest if I can not get another of the same tire.

I am not going to bad mouth the overall quality of Michelin tires as overall they have been good, even if the life and ride on those Diamaris specific tires were very poor. I know on our very large four wheel CAT loaders, Michelin are the ONLY ones to buy as the life and ride are second to none. You may pay double the cost for them (if you can even find them) but they last 3 times as long. There for a while the Chinese were buying them all up. Talk about frustrating. When a set cost you $60,000 it is even more frustrating.

Hope to see these GEN III/IV rear sizes soon as I would very much like o order a set to replace the run flats.

If I remember correctly when these tires were first talked about....didn't the thread say that the tires would not be available in all viper sizers for at least a year?

I think Boxer is hitting the nail right on the head. I just got some "new" PS2's that were manufactured in 2008.
