Came home the other night (SURPRISE!!) to find 10 feet wide and 20 feet long speed bumps with bright neon orang stripes across them - FRICKEN UGLY!!!!

The concept of the bumps is fine, I have a young kid and I am all about slowing traffic down, BUT, the neighbors who attended a board meeting this week tell me that the bumps are too small, not a deterrent, and they plan to come back and redo them with another 4 " in height. Well, that would trap the Viper in.

Keep in mind my roads are owned and managed by a condo assoc. It appears they can do what they want w/out notice or warning. I guess I have no rights at all...

Anyone have any idea what degree of angle a stock gen 3 can traverse a speed bump without scraping up the bumper? I need to put a stop to this madness now!
Maybe if I appeal to them?

And what is the front end height of the Vipe?

Take pictures of your front end now. Date them and save them.
Ask them who you should send the painting bill to from your association. Might get them thinking a bit.
Will it effect the time that emergency vehicles can reach your neighborhood?
Another good question to ask. Good luck!

You'll need to go over the speed bump at an angle.

I feel your pain. Their doing that through my neighborhood too.

I live in a gated community which put a low profile one on our street; even though the association blessed it the City made them remove it because they did not obtain the appropriate certificates.

There has to be a DOT standard on these things, right???..... my assoc has gotten wacky :omg:

Ours are made by hand by the city so every one is different:rolleyes:

The people who live in front of the bumps hate them too because all day long they hear cars slowing and accelerating.

Speed bumps are a bigger waste of money than the bridge to nowhere or the $7,000 toilet seats the Navy bought a few years ago.

But I have found a use for them. Speed limits are typically 30mph in residential. So after slowly and cautious navigating over the bumps I practice my 0-30mph launches. DO NOT EXCEED THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT. I do NOT advocate speeding in residential. However, speed bumps are a useless waste of money and devalue property so it is important to make the most of a bad situation.

And I'm sure the pro-speed bump residents enjoy the Viper growl as I practice four 0-30s down our street.

However they probably don't appreciate my pickup truck hitting the bumps at the posted 30mph speed with all my bottles and cans and buckets bouncing around in the bed. A truck bed that prior to speed bump placement was kept clean.

If they are as big as you are saying you will need to watch your side sills, you cannot just angle it over the bump to protect them. When looking for our house whenever we looked at developments in Delaware they usually had these big wide bumps I would turn right around and not even look at the house. Another reason you don't want them is it decreases your audience when you go to sell your home. :crazy2:
