You guys think a Viper is hard to launch, try launch a 6500 lb truck with stock tires and 1300 foot lbs of torque at 1400 rpms. With ease, I can smoke the tires to half track no problem.
There are guys out there turning in the 11's with a Cummins.
The weakest link is the tranny(auto) holding the power. The tranny upgrade is actually is more money than the power upgrades, my truck has a larger turbo, huge injectors, 4 in. exhaust, Ultimate power box which is adjustable from the cab(25 power settings)320-481hp. 1.91 is my best 60 footer time. My most important deal with me is that the truck can tow, look stock and rip the throats out the unexpected sorta fast guy on the street.
The best part of a fast diesel truck at the Drags is the people, the first look you get is, WHAT THE H3LL ARE YOU GOING HERE. Then after my first or second pass, you got people coming up to you and ask you what have you done. Actually when I was up at S.I.R I got some thumbs up.
Still have more upgrades to do, hoping by Feb. I will have 600 ponies, I could have that now with NO2 but I what the power form the motor and not DRUGS(NO2 or Propane).
