Just saw this post in Automotive News site. www.autonews.com
If anyone subscribes to their service, maybe you can get us the rest of the story.

"Chrysler group will kill off its coupes
The Chrysler group will abandon nearly all two-door vehicles after the 2006 model year, says Trevor Creed, senior vice president of design. The Dodge Stratus and Chrysler Sebring coupes are expected to go out of production at that time."

The key word to me is "nearly".
Will our Vipers make the cut?

That *****, but it is the reality of the market.
We here are in the vast MINORITY when it comes to what type a cars we like...
Just look out on the road...4 door sedans and SUV's dominate the road.
This is what killed the Camaro/F-Bird as well as many Japanese coupes.... And the Mustang barely hung on by the skin of its teeth a few years back..
I wish the new Charger was a 2-door but the numbers must not have worked out.
Cheers,

They also had only FWD vehicles at one time. It doesn't mean it's forever....

Actually, when the Viper first came out, I never thought it would last this long! I thought it would live the same short life that the prowler did.

I think Vipers will make the cut, both coupe and the current car. Now why should we care if the front wheel drive Sebring and Stratus coupes are killed? That is like saying we want the 300 front wheel drive car back instead of the 300C. Let em' go and build some more rear wheel drive stuff with Hemi power. Now whether they will be coupes or four doors....questionable. There seems to be a feeling among American car manufacturers that 2 doors don't sell as well as four doors.

This is what killed the Camaro/F-Bird

Course the fact that my spankin new 96 Z28 was in the shop no less than 37 times its first year had nothing to do with me not buying another...

I've mixed feeling on this - on one hand I'd gladly give up the Honda for another Impala SS (that comfy back seat sure had its perks.) On the other hand I strongly believe the industry is pushing the 4 door craze for its own convenience (I mean seriously, what 16yo wants a 4 door WRX?... yet it's happening!)

I think people are starting to realize that new cars aren't the way to go anymore. Four door sedans are big business for fleets trying to angle a tax-break but other wise I don't know too many people rushing to the floors to buy them. Automakers think that computer controlled headrests and carbon fiber blinker fluid reservoirs justify a $40k+ price tag as opposed to building a general purpose $10k automobile. I for one have decided never to buy another post-96 car for this very reason - marketing has nothing to do with it.

Hey Bonk, if you liked the Impala SS I can't wait to give you a ride in My 300C, it ain't got no computer controlled headrests or carbon fiber anything. And it was nowhere near 40k, more like 34k loaded with the coupon. But I guarantee you will want one. Impala SS is a dog next to this car.

Sorry Lee, took out the 300C Hemi, the Magnum V8, the GTO, and the BMW 540i and still missed my Imp. To me, $34k would buy a 70 Chevelle Conv and a lot of bolt-on comfort.

With the EPAs push on getting OBD-III online even if they did create a badass supercar that I love I still wouldn't feel safe driving it.
